Strange Successs
The Context
This is the last fragrance from the spring break batch, the next fragrance that I bought after that was in mid June, when I finished the semester. So, this one and the other ones from the batch were included in a list with the other ones that I wrote so far from my collection and I started ranking them from the worst to the best. Shortly that list got more complicated to arrange in a way that it is accurate with my general feelings about each one of them. Some had really good scents but they did not project well and lasted just for a few hours. Whatever the criteria was put forward or the points measured for every fragrance, this one stood in the top 5, Pour un Homme de Caron being also the top selection alongside the other one that I got the sample from. But nevertheless this is one of the best from Avon from what I’ve experienced so far.
The Scent
This is pure magic. I smell sweets, cotton candy and then the grapefruit. The rhubarb and ginger makes that sweet scent from the opening but then the grapefruit twits it in a sour and spicy direction. As it settles down it becomes more spicy with the cardamom note and the clary sage with the orange blossom do a roundabout around it like two moons around a planet. With all been said, I don’t detect the cashmere wood and the vetiver in the late drydown, maybe because there are in the mid drydown and I can’t pick them up from the flowers and the strong cardamom. This might sound weird but the scent profile is strong, sharp and intense and also manages to be refined, beautiful and gracious. It is truly a strange combination that somehow works.
The Projection
It is from my experience a moderate to a high thanks to the spicy and intense cardamom with the orange blossom from the heart. Somehow the grapefruit stays for a longer time in the drydown, from what I’m detecting. Either that or is the orange blossom. Either one or another has a good contribution to the projection and that spicy element to this creation.
The Longevity
From my experience I get around 6 hours or even more. Applying it on the skin and sweating around the fifth hour is guaranteed to make the oils emerge stronger for a little while.
The Bottle
Is a decently made glass with some design towards the bottom and a cap made of solid plastic it matches with the design, but with such design I expected that the cap would be made of some kind of glass. But, anyway, the atomizer it’s also like the other Avon fragrances and has that strong spray but no control over it in a way or another, but these are just nitpicks and the fragrance it’s not expensive.
The Perfumer
And again, the nose it’s not listed but I got to say that this is a great creation and whoever made it deserves my credit.
Conclusions
This is a sweet, spicy, intense but elegant fragrance that has solid performance and projection and an interesting constitution and a strange combination that has a solid success, in my opinion.
Thank you so much for reading my review. I got more inspired into writing more reviews and hopefully that until the end of this year I will hopefully be able to finish every review that I made so far. Next, I will write about Carolina Herrera’s Chic for Men, the second fragrance that I bought with my own money and was also a recommendation from Kevin Samuels in that video that I wrote about in the Pour un Homme de Caron review.
