New Year violets
It's the time, between the years, when everyone dutifully gathers around the table, gluttony everywhere People wear heavy fragrances. People roll around in amber, patch, orange zest to celebrate. Bathing in cloves, cinnamon and animal.swimming on heavy floral swill here. Loll in their madness to the candlelight in ambroxan. They make it pop with sandalwood and honey so that flies faint from the ceiling. Some of them smell, it's hard to believe, like their own Christmas tree. Another smells like it's on fire and wonders why everyone is running. It's the time of year for a break, but there's a big party everywhere. And while corks and firecrackers are still popping, I long for the peace and quiet of the forest.
Where the little violet stands,
very still, and beautifully wafted by its own scent. Surrounded by the most delicate early blossom splendor, (which makes climate change possible.) The trees, still in winter rest, add a wooden touch.
And once again I realize: true beauty can be so simple.
And while the firecrackers are ringing loudly, I want to indulge in purism here. Just a little while longer, here with my little violet.
**
The time of more or less harmonious family gatherings in the country, accompanied by excessive festivities and feasting, will soon come to an end. New Year's Eve is approaching and with it the good resolutions for the next year, which often have something to do with renunciation (and discipline).
So on the hungover first day of the year, let's refresh our awareness of how good a simple glass of cool water (possibly with aspirin) can sometimes be.
This fragrant treasure fits the bill.
A simple, classic violet fragrance, light, fresh, harmonious, which becomes a little sweeter and creamier as it progresses. Quiet, never demanding. Sooo relaxed.
..... out of stock, unfortunately.
Sometimes that's more than enough.
Happy New Year to everyone. Let it rip, or not. And a relaxed start to the new year. :-)))

The perfect, classic violet
This is one of my all time favorite violet scents. Definitely in my top 3 (and the most affordable of the three). It's simple but not boring.

It's an uncharacteristically warm violet. Not candied and not powdery. Behind the violet is a nice mixed bouquet with hyacinth, lily and helitrope among others. The heart has more of the Iris in the bouquet than the opening and there is also some vetiver and cedar in the heart too. the violet is still the star though. The dry down has violet as the main star but the mixed bouquet gives way to the cedar and vetiver more.

I truly love this scent. The longevity is about 9-10 hours and it's sillage is personal but someone standing next to you will smell it. Definitely something every girl should have in her wardrobe. It's classic and done right.

Eau de Fraîcheur Violettes
Borsari 1870 VIOLETTA DI PARMA is a super-fresh light and naturally sweet violet fragrance. Although the claim is that this is eau de parfum, I must say that it is one of the lightest, rivaling even L'Artisan Parfumeur in its evanescence. Nonetheless, it smells very nice, and I like it a lot.

This composition is very close to Berdoues VIOLETTES DE TOULOUSE and appears also to be a nineteenth-century-inspired presentation of violets. Some people will find this old fashioned or perhaps even juvenile, but it's perfect on hot days or when one is looking for some nice floral refreshment without a lot of distractions or heavy base. Unlike the Molinard violet soliflore, this one is a no-sugar-added composition, which is why it works well even in extreme heat and humidity. Did I mention that it's hot in Boston this summer?

In some ways, VIOLETTA DI PARMA reminds me of the Parfums de Nicolai PETIT ANGE eau de fraîcheur: a light and extremely natural-smelling floral fragrance. This one is sweeter but only because violets are naturally sweeter than lilacs. There are other elements in this composition, which impart a slightly powdery and very lightly green quality, but mostly this one is for violet lovers who wish to appreciate this flower in its natural beauty.

The bottle is adorable, with a tasseled pink atomizer attached. HRH Emperor Oliver demonstrates its use below...

If you like violets, this is your scent. At my taste, it's too old fashioned and vibrant, I can't wear it
