Second best!

Three vintages and one question: Which one is it? Which one is the best?
2008, 2012 or 2017. For me, 2012 is a well-deserved second place. A bright dior typical citrus note greets you in the first minutes. Then follows this soft and pleasing iris paired with ginger and makes me smile every time. A fragrance that brings back many memories for me. It is one of those fragrances that I do not wear on the side in everyday life, no. It is a fragrance that always takes me back to the time 8 years ago. Demachy has created a fragrance that is sporty, yet elegant and never intrusive. In the base my favourite wood awaits me: cedar! What a crowning finish! Nobody knows why this formula was discontinued, well Dior's ways are unfathomable. This is known by now. At least this has the advantage that I appreciate it as a privilege to enjoy my remaining 60ml bit by bit and let the past slowly fade away.

Preferred Upscale Summer Scent

Actually sniffing the DHS drydown as I write this review. Despite the family relation, this scent is quite different from Dior Homme. Whereas Chanel's Allure Homme and Allure Homme Sport seem to hold a close resemblence, this is not true for the Diors.

DHS opens with very sharp, clear lemons, as the dominant note. I haven't tried them side-by-side, but I'd say this is every bit as lemony as Chanel's Allure Edition Blanche, which seems to be a pretty direct analog. DHS doesn't have that creaminess though, it is more like a juicy lemon. As a scent, this has obviously been done before, but this is about as compelling a version of it as I've smelled - although wearing it several days in a row can be fatiguing. I don't think this is an every day frag because of that.

Having said the above, this one works well in a couple of different scenarios: work (in moderation), casual and daily knockabout scent. I don't think I'd try to dress it up for anything approaching formal, its too playful. And a date scent, it is not, to me.

It is a little more sophisticated than most citrus-focused scents though, having a bit of complexity in the heart and drydown that gives it enough seriousness to not be embarrassed if you do go out amongst adult company. This one does not scream "fratboy".

Notable Comparisons: Eau Sauvage, but without the vetiver/herbals.

Differences: If you were expecting a sportier Dior Homme, with DH's great florals and powder, this will be a surprise because they don't exist.

Longevity is good, if not great, but it is a citrus-based sport frag, so you have to grade on a sliding scale. I'm at about 6 hrs now, and it's still projecting lightly. This is consistent with my previous wearings.

Sillage is good, and can be a bit much if oversprayed - don't go crazy with it or you may earn the nickname "Lemon Pledge" with your coworkers.

I rate this one a "like". I'd say the same about Allure Edition Blanche, for comparison's sake. Eau Sauvage would be my "love" in this general category.

It gives its moist, sticky, watery, fresh ginger note directly from L'eau d'Issey and the cooked herbs on heather - with a sea breeze of Cool Water. Very nice grapefruit and lemon opening, very spicy and energetic together with some anislavender. The naturally dried, spicy ginger is a great precursor to the already translucent, sparkling, green vetiver and camphor herb rosemary that gives it a dry, earthy coolness. A perfectly fitted, sticky-sweet, resinous cedar wood with a deep "woodchip" note provides grip and leads to a slightly salty Ambroxan/Iso-E-Super base with a santal tone. Energetic, refined and elegant at the same time, this is a great leisure perfume or an invigorating tonic after extensive training. Good work, but a little too thin and weakly smelling. Half thumbs up.

Good scent, but why reformulate?

Why reformulate?

A bit muted version of original with some powder added (iris) that leads it to Dior Homme line.

In my opinion the original DHS is superior than this one: more green and with a heavier ginger note.

Anyway this is a great scent for sure, but lacks in freshness if compared to original.

While original DHS is a must have, this one is a must try.

Limonlu ruj kokusu bu??? Açılış citron etkisiyle narenciye limon kokulu. İris de geliyor yanında ardından iris baskınlaşıyor. Dior homme intensedeki irisin yapısı burada yine var ama yazlık gibi olmuş. Ben bu parfümü çok GEREKSİZ, ANLAMSIZ buluyorum. Olmasa da olurmuş. Normal dior homme, intense, eau for men, homme cologne.... Zaten bir dolu flanker var seride. Kalıclık desen fiyatına göre rezalet kağıtta 1 saat dursa alkış tutarlar. Tende 20 dakika maksimum. Statementlarda biri gym kokusu demiş olur mu olur. Ancak bir gym kokusuna 800 tl bayılmak mantıklı değil Kenan İmirzalıoğlu değilsek. 7.5 diyenler kalıcılığına hangi evrende yaşıyorlar acaba? Benim açımdan max 5 puan alır kalıclık o da iyimser rakam.
