Everybody relax, it's just a fragrance!
For a long time I thought about writing a comment to Sauvage. A lot has already been said about the fragrance here.
And partly I am quite shocked, how much hate the scent arouses and what high waves are crashing over it.
Wääh the decline of the perfume culture, Wääh a traditional house ruins itself, Wääh you can smell on every street corner, Wääh the cheapest shower gel, Wääh the lowest drugstore level, and what else do I know? Young boy...
There's a lot of flailing going on around here. Whoever loves Sauvage defends him vehemently and vice versa, it's even more violent in some cases.
But who is right? Everyone in his own way or no one? Even I can't say for sure. The answer is surely somewhere in between or far away But aren't this excitement and clamour perhaps a little exaggerated? After all, Sauvage is 'just' a fragrance like many others on the almost unmanageable market. And a fragrance is not really essential for survival, but a little bit of luxury that you can treat yourself to every now and then A fragrance that has aspects that either like it or not.
One likes it more classic, spicy, woody, leathery, the next one loves it modern, fresh, clean, uncomplicated or heavy, opulent, oriental, animalistic.
Whether you find what you are looking for in the niche sector or in the so-called mainstream is irrelevant.
There is something for everyone and everyone should wear what they like.
I myself am one of those people who like Sauvage very much and like to wear it. I really appreciate its attributes such as a fruity freshness, a certain pungency and light spiciness combined with a little citrus and the excellent shelf life (the 60 ml bottle from 2016 doesn't want to run out) and its charisma. And in addition the almost universal applicability. Goes just as well at work during the day as in leisure time.
It does not always have to be highly complex and with a constantly changing scent, it may be unagitated and uncomplicated And on the subject of shower gel, you like to buy something that smells good or perhaps even the right shower gel to go with the fragrance. Or am I wrong?
The fact that houses like LVMH, Coty, L "Oréal, Puig and like them all want to make hot sales and profits, you can certainly not blame them for the time being. We also work to earn money and to allow ourselves one or the other fragrance or luxury. That is probably not reprehensible (One could perhaps reproach the houses for the flanker mania that is spreading more and more. But you can go into that another time)
And that's why I simply suggest dear people:
Stay a little bit relaxed and don't take everything so seriously! Even if scents appear that you don't like, the world doesn't immediately end. Not everyone can like everything, we are all much too different with our preferences and perceptions. And that is also good. With this in mind, I treat myself to a spray or two of Sauvage and enjoy it. I wanted to get rid of that, from my own simple and relaxed point of view
