Torn
I must admit that I was tempted to buy this perfume by the slogan "The most expensive perfume in the world". After some research I found a good supplier who had this fragrance in stock for good money. In short: Bought and delivered.

After about a week the perfume was delivered and I could hardly wait to open the box. Well, I'm not a fan of the wrapping. It's a little kitschy for me. The bottle also looks a little cheap in terms of its look, although it does feel high-quality. But in my opinion, a complete gold plating is more likely to enhance the appearance than to devalue it. Matter of taste, definitely
Immediately sprayed on my neck and wrists I was a little confused at first. Definitely not the smell explosion I was expecting. Powdery and floral sweetness in the first moment. A bit old-fashioned was my first thought. A few minutes later quite floral but less sweet, almost woody. 2 hours later almost nothing more could be recognized from the smell. Even when asked by the family, they could only weakly recognize a note that still existed. Sometimes I smell a fine sillage when I go back to the same room I left. But I would still describe the durability as rather below average. Until now unfortunately a fragrance of my collection with shorter fragrance duration. To add to this is that I have never smelled this fragrance before, so I can't say if the bottling was simply not that good. Especially the other comments unsettle me enormously, and I was only hesitant to leave one myself. But I still want to stay honest and describe my experience

Ordinary - Unusual, with that certain extra and the BUT...
Hello everyone,

and at this late hour, I would like to say something about No. 1 for Men .

Today, for my birthday, I bought myself a new one (batch of 22) / gave it to myself as a present. That's why my review today is more about the current versions. If you want to know something about the old ones (you will find this in the text a little further down).

What do we have here?

The fragrance starts fruity and creamy and in the background you can already notice the STAR of the fragrance, the IRIS, which is always present and noticeable. But of course there are moments when this is more the case and certain moments when the iris tends to take a back seat. After the top note, we have a noticeable HIGH of floral notes, thanks to the iris with the rose. And you can tell from the quality here that the raw materials cost a little (!) more. There's always something spicy in the background of the fragrance, but it's never overpowering, but it's always there - I like it that way!
And finally, we have a mix of something creamy, something soft, something subtly sweet and something woody and, as I said, the iris, which is also present here. Generally speaking, as I always say, the fragrances of the house have a noticeable "grown-up" touch. Of course, you can be 20 and wear it, but I see it more for "seasoned men" who have already seen and experienced something from 30 years to 60 years (+).

Are you the No.1 and the best of CC?

It is very ungrateful and difficult to rate this, as Haus has already released fragrances such as X for Men, 1872 Mandarin, Jump Up and Kiss Me Hedonistic, 1872 for Men and other very beautiful fragrances... Fragrances from CC are always very good in terms of quality...

About the price and is the fragrance worth the price....?

It's really hard for me to say "yes man" or "100% no", because yes (!) it's already a hit (and now an important point), you can already notice the fine tuning, the high-quality aspect and you can already tell that it's the same with (most!) fragrances from the house - oh come on, let's add something better/more expensive... In general, you really have to say that the pure pricing of the brand is already sporty and this cannot be explained away or glossed over, it is a FACT.

But especially the No. 1 for Men is, apart from the manufacturer's oils, the most expensive that they have in their portfolio and I'll put it this way... (personal opinion). The new price of 700€ is really expensive and I wouldn't buy it for that... but a used one... why not? - why not, as long as the "price" is ok.... it's an experience you should or could have had ;)

And about the batches:

The fragrance has been around for over 20 (!) years and a certain amount of major/small adjustments (or a few over the years) are somehow self-explanatory. The older batches you have/are allowed to test, the edgier, more consistent and spicier the fragrance becomes. More recent ones are more transparent, softer and easier to like. Both versions are ok and both have THEIR certain charm, but I (!) would rather spend the higher price on the old batches, because they seem more complex, of higher quality and noticeably more expensive. This doesn't mean that the old is worlds better than the new - I'm just saying!
To judge that for yourself, you would have to test an old one against a new one.

If I really wasn't convinced, I wouldn't recommend it to you!

And now have a nice day/evening, or whatever you read this review, LG the Benny
_______

(Now the same as almost always - because it's true!)

Now on the subject of luxury:

As you can see in my profile, among other things, I have really smelled many fragrances and there are fragrances where you smell a certain (partly) strong synthetic and you notice quite quickly that some fragrance houses go for quantity rather than quality and there are some where you just realize "oh come on, let's put more + better in" and you can smell this at the end of the day.

Very briefly on the subject of OVP, bottle, sprayer:

I'll make it short, I give it a 9 out of 10 in every category and I know very well that tastes are very different. So if you honestly rate this with a 7 or less... - PUH. Beautiful and very valuable lid, beautiful timeless flacon design etc. .... so I find it very difficult to rate it differently and I'm not saying this because I like a brand or not!
Now a brief word on the subject of my opinion:

I am not sponsored, influenced by anyone, receive money or anything else. I approach the subject of parfumo as I am, honestly, everything else is not mine. My real personal opinion is worth a lot to me and maybe I hope ;) that you notice that. If I don't like something, e.g. OVP, bottle, sprayer or H/S, then I communicate this!

Number One Poor Fragrance Investment...
No. 1 for Men on skin all but immediately goes straight to the floral heart notes of powdery heliotrope and iris, a subtle jasmine and rose, and an almost banana and honeyed frankincense-like ylang-ylang floral as the primary heart note. Base notes of tonka bean, sandalwood, amber and vanilla sweeten the now receding powdery florals further in the dry-down almost to the point of the scent becoming too sweet, but stopping just short. Projection is below average and longevity is below average to average.

No. 1 for Men is a very nice pleasant smelling unisex floral composition that while not really my kind of thing is well put together. The ylang-ylang really dominates the other florals here, with the heliotrope and iris adding powdery support and the rose staying well in the background but still detectable albeit quite subtle. Subtlety in general can sum up No. 1 for Men, as it really is rather conservative for a floral and is relatively easy to wear for just about anyone. I particularly like the honey-like nature in the heart that pervades the florals to give No. 1 for Men a nice sweet overall character. What I *don't* like is the ridiculous price it sells for. At $100 for 50ml I would continue singing No. 1 for Men's praise, but at $865 you have got to be kidding me! I won't unfairly mark down the composition due to the pretentious and insultingly snobbish marketing on the bottle as "The World's Most Expensive Perfume" nor its entirely unreasonable wallet busting price-point but even though the scent earns a very good 3.5 stars out of 5 rating for its smell, the value for the money and marketing from Clive Christian does not even merit one star. I recommend getting a free sample of this just to say you have tried it, but in no way would I ever buy or recommend this at anywhere near its retail price. Shame on you Clive Christian!

To be or not to be
To be no 1 or not depends on a lot of things, and when it comes to this specific perfume, the Price plays a huge role.
Not wanting to start my review out talking about Price, But lets be honest, this is expensive. Is it expensive because it is good Or Is it just because they use the best ingredients ? I Think one has to judge that by themselves.
Personally, When i first smelled this, i could only Think of how different this smells, this smells like grandma, grandpa and the rest of the family at the same time. It smells very mature somehow But still manages to smell somewhat good for a younger crowd, to me it smells like real perfumery, like there was put a lot of thought into it.
It does not smell generic in any Way or boring at all. Its powdery and masculine at the same time, i like this a lot and i am happy i have it. And everyone should at least try this to make up Their own mind.
Is it worth the retail, of course not. Would i pay Half? No i would not, But i would pay aproximately the same as i would pay for a xerjoff Alexandria 2. Retail. .

No. 1 must have
Yes, I understand it's more of an old school fragrance, but let's face it, it's pleasantly fashioned into a modern form. It is unquestionably a unisex fragrance, unlike the Chanel No.5, which I cannot imagine in a man. My wife says it smells like cotton. It's very elegant anyway, ideal for cinema, theatre, parties. But I usually wear it to work, and in fact whenever I feel like it. The price is very high, but I think it's "must have"

Really good perfume. Powdery, floral and little bit spicy. Something that makes you sure of who you are.

No. 1 for Men is a burst of authentic white flowers with a soapy undertone. Masterfully blended, classy, but won't be everyone's cup o tea.
