Royal outside, scarf inside
I bought the fragrance for my friend blind, which I would rather not have done. The fragrance itself I find very nice, he smells at first smell of saffron or for me simply after something spicy, dark and slightly musty. The scent is very masculine, oriental, spicy and somewhat leathery. You can't compare the scent to oud wood but as a differentiation, oud wood is much woodier and a bit fresher. Oud royal is very dry and smells kind of heavy though, and here we come to the very very biggest minus point: this scent has a worse sillage and longevity than some 40€ citrus scents. At a distance you can perceive the scent of all at most for half an hour, then I smell the only if I really smell the skin. The durability on the skin is also rather below average so about 5 hours. So my conclusion: the fragrance is beautifully made, develops on the skin warm, spicy and very masculine. However, the durability is just subterranean for a fragrance in this price range. Thus, for me, the only thing that makes this fragrance special and high quality, the beautiful bottle

A restrained king with golden Patek Philippe
I chose this scent for my commentary deflowering. Why? Because, as the good YouTuber and mediocre perfumer from this uncharted territory likes to say, of all the fragrances I have ever tested, he likes the "scent DNA" best.

Saffron, oud and frankincense I take most present. However, they cannot be clearly separated from each other. The ingredients are rather intertwined with each other in such a way that one has to speak of a fragrant mass that smells like "noble". You could also say it smells like "expensive". So they harmonize very well with each other. For me it is so good that I would say it is the most beautiful fragrance composition ever created. The scent is linear for me, so it smells relatively similar from beginning to end with decreasing intensity. However, unlike many Tom Fords, he manages to do this without being one-dimensional. My thumbs up.

If I had to imagine a king - not a simple sheikh - from the Arab world descending with his entourage at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills late at night. Driving a midnight black Rolls Royce, wearing a Thawb. But a black and gold one, not a white one. He would smell of this scent. So the name Oud Royal is quite aptly chosen.

But there is only one problem: The sheik would smell the same, but much stronger. He would make the entire lobby of the Waldorf Astoria smell like his Sillage for an hour after he left. And this is exactly where my problem with the fragrance lies: Don't get me wrong - the durability is already great. Even if she can't quite reach an oud Ispahan, it still sticks to my jacket collar days, weeks later. But it's been in there about 10, 12 hours. After an opulent prelude, the Sillage is so subtle after about 30 minutes to one hour that it is hardly noticeable through the surrounding area. Usually friends greet me with a "it oudelt so nice again". When I wear Oud Royal, however, there is never any comment. This is also in line with my impression: after the first hour you have to get very close to the sprayed body part to still be able to perceive the perfume. The restrained dosage of a spray certainly plays its part in this. If I wear too much, however, it is perceived as intrusive and unpleasant. Therefore, one walks with the Oud Royal on a narrow degree. If dosed too weakly, it is hardly noticed by the environment - too high doses are more penetrating. Therefore, it takes some practice to actually realize the potential of the fragrance composition. This is also the title of the commentary - the fragrance is the most restrained show-off you can imagine.

Since I got the fragrance, buying perfume has become much more difficult for me. Why? Because I'm still looking for a fragrance with a DNA identical or very similar to the Oud Royal, but with a sillage appropriate to it. The search for this fragrance occupies me so much that other perfume DNAs are currently finding it difficult to satisfy me. Maybe someone in the perfume community has an insider tip, I would be happy to hear about it.

To all who have read to the end, a good and successful day!

Animalistic and only for extreme oud lovers...
I stroll around in Dubai Mall and of course I have to sniff thousands of scents. Totally blown away by the scents in this city, the herbal scents in the souks and the beguiling scents in the luxury perfumeries, I ask an Arabic salesman the question, which scent in his opinion best symbolizes Dubai... He immediately goes to the Armani Prive collection and sprays Oud Royal on my wrist. He says: This is Dubai... I am blown away. Wow, my beloved Dubai right there in that fancy black bottle. A must have... Oud as far as you can think, heavenly... The price in the mall scares me. Conversion 330 euros. Ouch... Well, I'll think it over...

So last chance, my weak spot is right in front of me, duty free at Dubai airport. I have to have that... Noted and bought... 70 Euro cheaper than in the Dubai Mall, but still a steep price
Back home, there's disillusionment. Oud Royal smelled so fantastic on my skin in the heat of Dubai, but not at all here. Sorry Armani but the first thing I smell when spraying is leopard cage in the zoo... 100% animalistic on the hard and dirty way, plus a lot of oud, not soft but hard core... For a man it may be that oud royal can work but for a woman it is no way...

The noble scent of wild wood
The Oud Royal from the Armani Privé series shows me again how different oud fragrances with similar notes can be.

It opens with a beautiful saffron note and over time really develops into a woody fragrance with a distinct myrrh and frankincense note, the saffron is naturally preserved.
All in all it is a warm and mystical combination with that certain animalistic oud touch, which fortunately is not too wild.

I like it! But it is rather something for the cooler months, because he already performs well and some can get a little negative in the nose.

Sometimes less is more!
In today's world of perfume, complex fragrances that are felt to contain 50 raw materials are welcome. Don't get me wrong, I love complex and intense fragrances that feel like they change every minute. But in this masterpiece less is more. Saffron, oud and rose. There are probably many, many more raw materials contained in this masterpiece, because the fragrances usually only contain the raw materials that you "perceive" but do not necessarily have to be contained. Do not forget. But back to the oud royal, the perfumer has managed to create such an incredibly beautiful fragrance with simple ingredients that is not complex but still worth every cent. The shelf life is above average and the silage is also good. A successful western interpretation of an oriental oud fragrance. The oud scents from the Orient blow your nose away, but the oud royal flatters your nose with the saffron, oud and a touch of rose. So do me a favor, guys, and test this thing.

A rather dry, yet smoky oriental-woody Winter fragrance, with a pronounced spicy-earthy opening. Nice Incense-Oud combo! Very masculine.
