House of Orpheus

Marcus R. McCoy is the owner and perfumer of the House of Orpheus. Marcus has dedicated his life to studying the magic of fragrance. He began his journey by training with a South American shaman, where he worked with exotic Amazonian flowers and learned how plants speak through their scent.

From then on, he studied the art of distillation and extraction of fragrance from plants. He began to explore the alchemical origins of perfume. Marcus believes that perfume is a high art and that, as with all artistic works, each work is unique and must be interwoven with something greater that transcends the physical. Perfume must be sublime....

Marcus prides himself on creating fragrances that cross boundaries. He named his perfume after Orpheus, the progenitor of the Orphic Mysteries, a legendary musician, poet and prophet. He wrote hymns to the Greek gods and powers, each of which concluded with the burning of a sacred incense - incense that is the basis for many of the perfumes Marcus creates. He hopes that each of his fragrances can shake you up and wake you up through the symphony of scents he creates.
