Not just pour un homme
Uncommented fragrances No. 136
Caron pour un homme is one of the oldest men's fragrance series in the world and remains an unsurpassed fragrance for lavender lovers. Actually, it's even my favorite lavender scent and that means what. I'm pretty sure I've tested almost every lavender fragrance available on the market at least once. If you're as lavender crazy as I am, you'll find this in the collection called "Lavender" on my site (currently almost 140 variants; all others are more or less difficult or not available at all in Germany).
The fascination of Pour Un Homme, the ancestor of this direction, creates the tension between the herbaceous-fresh, subtly sharp lavender note and the vanilla note in the base. Some other accents are added. Only relatively few fragrances rely so decidedly on this tension between these two fragrances. Lavande d'Hiver, who is another rare and extremely beautiful representative of this concept and has its own contours, shows just how unfortunate this is.
First, there is the clear, light, herbaceous-fresh lavender head note, which lingers for a while. Similar to Pour un Homme by Caron, there is actually no heart note. Instead, after a short wait, a warm, unsweet vanilla base note is applied. It's as simple as it is beautiful. However, a real preference for lavender is to be assumed, because the head and main notes are even stronger here than in Carons Pour Un Homme and very classical. This may be due to the fact that the fragrance manufacturer is one of the typical French lavender manufacturers offering all kinds of lavender products: Soaps, scented bags, creams, aromatic oils, room scents...
It is in the nature of the lavender plant that it stands men as well as women. That's why variants with vanilla in the base are of course not only suitable for men, as Caron's men's series, which was developed in 1934, suggests in its name, but also for women. This is even more true for Lavande d'Hiver.
Like all lavender fragrances, the fragrance can also be used for calming and relaxing. This works particularly well with the supplementary vanilla note, as vanilla is said to trigger a sense of well-being in almost everyone and is therefore used so frequently in foods. Thus Lavande d'Hiver is surely the right thing for a relaxed evening, a meditative posture during the day or a restful sleep. That may not matter to many here. This is one of the reasons why I personally enjoy using lavender fragrances
