Interesting Facts
Makeup artist and amateur photographer Frank Toskan held regular photoshoots in Toronto together with master hairdresser Frank Angelo, during which the duo was often annoyed by averagely applied makeup. That's why the two founded their own cosmetics label without further ado and called it "M-A-C" ("Make-up Art Cosmetics").

The two founders produced their first cosmetics in their kitchen at home. The first important milestone was the choice of New York as their headquarters for the label.

Only mannequins and models were originally M-A-C's target group. But it was these young women who also wanted to gift the brand's products to their friends and fans - which led "M-A-C" to become available to everyone after only a short time. By the mid-1990s, more than 100 stores already existed around the globe.

The "M-A-C" collection was developed according to country-specific and cultural conditions. Toskan and Angelo concentrated on adapting their makeup in 1994, parts of the company were transferred to the "Estée Lauder Companies" through the sale of shares. The takeover was completed, and Frank Toskan retired four years later.

Following its original orientation, the products of "M-A-C" always refer to prominent artists and models. In addition, the label founded the "M-A-C AIDS Fund" back in 1994, which collects funds for HIV-infected people threatened by poverty at galas, fashion shows, and with lots of celebrities.

M-A-C products are sold in department stores (Galeria), drugstores (Douglas, etc.), and, above all, online.
