Wild Gardener does Wild Moss
Wild Moss is a lovely old fashioned fougère. It starts with a minty note - like you get from some geranium oils - and a strong note of polished wood which also has a leathery feel. It's an old school scent - literally as well as figuratively - with an atmosphere of assembly halls but also a hint of forest floor. At this stage it reminds me of something Vincent Roubert might have done with Coty; Knize Ten, l'Origan, etc ...
And soon enough, because it's an aftershave, it fades down to a second phase, a simple musky drydown. But what musk! Along with the usual coumarin, the base is possibly ambrettolide and the Nitro Musks of legend. It makes for a skin scent that's powdery-soft and smooth, but fatty and rich at the same time.
The second part is great but in a different way. It doesn't have much to do with the fougère but it's so good you tend to forget what you'd smelt before.
A good but flawed cheapo, I doubt it's the same today.
