Exemplary soliflor
This old lady is supposedly born in 1860. Granny may be old, but still live and kicking! Actually, I don't get the grandma associations that people have with the jasmin flower. Either my grannies were different or I am the odd one here, I don't know.
Anyway, Molinard's version is a lovely example of the soliflor genre. It has a bold opening but settles in a very friendly, smooth way. The jasmin's indolic, green, musky and spicy sides are all there in great harmony, instead of focusing on one of the aspects and creating a caricature. Close to Montale's Jasmin Full, maybe a bit heavier on the indoles.
It seems Molinard has more to offer than the well-known Habanita. Interesting house with a long history and an affordable lineup. Quite a nice find!
