Citrus heaven
Oh the citrus! I wanted to lick and eat my fingers where they got sprayed! It's the most luscious, delicious citrus, fresh, ripe, sweet!

Then we get tart, subtly sweet red berries calming down the vivacious citrus, along with a not-overly sweet caramel note. It's not kids caramel, it's a very adult, serious caramel. Hints of incense waft about gently touching your nostrils. An almost lactonic vanilla arrives with woody notes in the base, cradling you in warmth.

Skin Fire
This fragrance made me forget my yearning for Mary Greenwell's completely unavailable (TMK) Fire. Unsuccessfully I searched for it, hoping it would be similar to nearly unavailable (and, IMO, stunning) Amouage Homage Attar. Hard to explain why my brain has made connections between these three. Apparently they only share Frankincense for sure, possibly some citruses and woods. Yet when I sniff from my dwindling sample of Homage and my newly-arrived one of Afire, I no longer mourn the loss of Homage as much.

Aptly named, Afire starts out like a house afire, smoldering up my nose and into the surrounding air—taking possession of the olfactory space as if a few Las Vegas showgirls, eating cotton candy, just rode in on the backs of lions. What a fragrance! I lost my mind immediately, just as I recently did over Bogue's achievement, Gardelia. Somehow to my brain the caramel/berry heart of Afire mimics Homage's intense floral/leathery appeal. They're not the same, of course, but for me these two have the same effect — an exuberant desire to apply them unstintingly.

EDIT: Kept calling the comparison perf Tribute when it's really Homage, both by Amouage.

Topnotch Gourmand
Initial impression was lemony gingerbread warm from the oven. On second thought, it seems more orange. Spicy orange liqueur or one of those clove studded orange sachets from medieval times. Very slight mediciney smell somewhere there that I really like. Maybe that is a slight brandy scent? Gourmand, definitely.

The orange is kind of strong at the beginning, but once it fades a bit the berries & caramel very evident in the center, and lovely woods and vanilla come up at the end. I myself do not dectect any discernable frankincense.

I have several other gourmand fragrances, mostly of them celebrity fronted types, and 'Afire' runs circles around them. In my opinion.
