The Gingerbread Whip
What I was curious about this fragrance and had correspondingly high expectations. Finally, the bottle with these three concentration levels under one lid suggests an almost eccentric exclusivity. An eye-catcher is Sensei certainly, but also a Hinriecher?
Where you can say or write about the fragrance what you want: you can not over-smell him or you can not accuse him that he is weak on the chest.
This is mainly because of the almost overambitious entry with this feisty gingerbread spice note, which seems to slay everything or one or the other could take flight - possibly even those who are inclined to the theme of Christmas and associated sweet biscuits.
The steadfast among them can perceive afterwards at least a slight development and something of the tobacco, which for me goes more in the direction of sweetish pipe than cigar, a splash of whiskey and some coffee grounds withbekommen. In between hold gossamer resinous notes and more spices.
One could think, here the perfumer quotes his personal experiences of the holidays in a cozy adult round after the Bescherung. A nice performance with certainly relaxed contemplative mood, however, even the gingerbread spice orgy at the beginning turned out a little too rustic for me. This is mainly because I associate these notes more with plain and quite firm brown gingerbread, less with flaky soft and juicy premium Elisenlebkuchen with wafer as well as at least 25% nut content.
All the gourmand rest unfortunately comes far too short and only towards the end recovers Sensei to a pleasing delicious fragrance experience, although the question now arises overall, which of the three versions, so Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum or Extrait de Parfum, was tested by me. I wish I knew, because there was nothing on the official sample from Piotr Czarnecki. From the coloring, I would definitely rule out the extrait and lean towards the EdP. Accordingly, it would now be interesting to find out how the other two versions do. But there must probably other experience comments.
Thus, I find Sensei or Shihan as the composition is now called, made quite appealing, but still a bit too unbalanced and brute. Less would have been there indeed more, while gingerbread aficionados come completely at their expense.
