Long-lasting simplicity
The title in no way means that Acqua Viva is boring. - On the contrary, the fragrance impresses me with the small number of (stated) fragrances. At the same time, you get exactly what you expect, but from the front.

In the summer of 2023, I was looking for a long-lasting summer fragrance. I had already tried many, but most of the classic recommendations such as Pomelo Sorrento, Afternoon Swim and Sedley didn't last very long on my skin. I had actually opted for Burlington 1819, but in really hot temperatures, the fragrance was just too much for me.

At the beginning of October, I tried Acqua Viva in a perfumery in Luxembourg and was immediately impressed. However, I thought to myself that summer would be over anyway and that it wasn't worth buying the fragrance before winter. I quickly made up for that in spring 2024.

The fragrance starts with a lot of lemon peel aroma - amalfi lemons are a little different to standard lemons - and a great broom note. The cedar wood forms the base, but is never too prominent. Due to the high perfume oil concentration of the Porfumum Roma fragrances, Acqua Viva lasts for seven to eight hours, even on me.

I also found the roll-on included interesting. I had previously toyed with the idea of getting some to fill up. However, after comparing the application and spraying, I can only see a minimal difference. The fragrance actually lasts longer for me by spraying it.

Overall, the fragrance is highly recommended if you like reduced summer fragrances and still want a certain longevity.

Exceptional doesn't have to be complicated.
I just love it when brands think of something in their creations. In the foreground is of course the fragrance, but if the brand itself, the story behind it, the presentation and the packaging are also thought out, the whole thing picks me up so right.

Acqua Viva, a fragrance consisting of Amalfi lemon, Mount Etna Broom and cedar wood. Relatively simple, but yet so masterfully well implemented. There is no fragrance, in my opinion, that depicts such a realistic lemon as this one. So I can relate to the many associations of Limoncello. Later more about the fragrance ...

Profumum Roma, a fragrance house - and specifically an exact fragrance - , which was allowed to experience a huge hype by certain artists.
But far before the hype, certain people who were knife grinders and blade manufacturers, thought about how to perfume their shaving soap and lotions after the war.
Everything should have Italian or at least Mediterranean reference. Each fragrance should be unconventional, reflect personal experiences, represent feelings and situations, while still following rules of the fragrance world.

All fragrances of Profumum Roma (PR) have an extremely high concentration of fragrance oil (up to 43%). One can spray them on or apply by supplied roll-on. Thus, it becomes clear, the fragrances are extremely long-lasting but also tend to be linear.
In times where Brands Acqua di Gío, The Dreamer, Chrome, CK Be brought out, PR comes along and brings with Acqua di Sale or Confetto really heavy perfume oils on the market - self-confident and willing to take risks.

With Acqua Viva is to represent the journey on a boat in the Tyrrhenian Sea. One experiences the mistral, a cold and dry wind and passes volcanoes. From the Amalfi Coast (lemon) to Sardinia or Sicily, you perceive the "volcano gold" (Etna Broom) on his dry wooden boat (cedar).
Such a beautiful, summery scenario, which you can also implement in the next vacation in Italy, remains with the oil particularly long on the skin and does not change. Not the most complex fragrance, but a beautiful capture of a situation.

The lemon is so realistic that you briefly consider drinking the perfume. Through the other two fragrances, such a great Mediterranean flair is created that you just have to grin.

The brand, the story, the courage, the perfume oil, Mediterranean ingredients, glass bottle, roll-on, decant, ... it totally picks me up. Truly art, truly quality that seeks its equal.

For me, an absolute good mood fragrance for the summer.

Italian cedrata and lemon gelato
This has always been a favorite of mine: an extremely addictive lemon summer scent suitable for easy refreshment with a slight yet enough amount of story-telling and harmony. It smells like lemon peel, hints of orange peel here and there, with very little touches of cypress and cedarwood that provide the fragrance some more aromaticity and a final broom note to eat away anything sour. It surely dries down more sour than its opening but it's not a sour fragrance. You could compare it to Eau d'Hadrien by Goutal but that one is more ephemeral and woody oriented: take the lemon note and think about it as amplified and succulent.

Something's bothering me...
Acqua Viva is probably pretty much the most famous summer fragrance, if the desire for a summer fragrance with good durability. Of course, I had to test Acqua Viva too. I am writing this review after almost 5 ml of Acqua Viva, which I have used over the last few months. It took a really long time until I was sure how to rate Acqua Viva.

Acqua Viva is very easy to describe: Fresh lemon with a hint of sweetness from the broom note. Cedar wood was used here to fix the notes, which gives Acqua Viva a nice woody note. Unfortunately, this euphoria lasts for a mere 3 hours for me. After these 3 hours, some unpleasant note appears, I guess musk, but unfortunately I'm not sure here. It is definitely a note that manages to spoil the whole fragrance for me. Acqua Viva is thereby very exhausting for me and I have no desire to wear the fragrance more.

However, the durability is really very good. I could always perceive Acqua Viva 9-10 hours on my skin. The silage is always pleasant and never over an arm's length, which I appreciate in a summer fragrance. After about 5-6 hours Acqua Viva becomes increasingly skin.

The price is of course a point which I still want to address. I find this for a pure summer fragrance clearly too high. Thus, for Acqua Viva is unsuitable for a quick refreshment, because times briefly nachsprühen, or times 2-3 sprayers more take here is not such a cheap affair.

Citrone Absoluta
Wow, such realistic lemon to start with. It's in your face citrus but not furniture polish opening as some have described. It does settle down quite quickly to a rather manly citrus fragrance with a backbone. Great for a summers day and with reasonable performance. I do not get 10-12 hours as some suggest. It will be part of my Summer 2021 wardrobe this year.

This is more lemony than Lemony Snicket's knickers. Holy smokes, this is lemony, ya! As they might say in Fargo.

Mouthwatering lemon, bright and slightly green, with a touch of sweet orange. The drydown smells like a lemon tree. Perfect for hot days.
