Heaven and earth
No, I don't mean that original German dish with Blutwurst, apple and potatoes. It's about oud. The wonderful scent extracted from the eaglewood tree.
For all those who (like me until recently) do not know : This tree must first be attacked with a special mould. The tree then produces a lot of fragrant resin to protect its wood. This resin saturates the wood and colours it darker.
Et voilà, the oud - scented wood has been created. I don't know how many eaglewood trees are attacked by this fungus, probably not quite as many, because the oud fragrance is very expensive, can supposedly be balanced with gold...
A real treasure, just like the perfume Oud divin (divine oud) by Piguet.
And this is how it smells: When you sniff the sample, you get a feeling of well-being. A warm, woody scent streams towards me. I'd like more of that So spray it on! At the beginning a very dark, almost "black" smell of wood is noticeable, in addition a light scent of resin.
