the enchanting scent of the day before yesterday and the day after tomorrow
Flacons, vials, bottles, test strips and those contact strips in magazines and journals don't just contain fragrant chemical compounds; they contain much more:
Dreams, memories and hopes; they tell stories, little anecdotes and sometimes they refuse to tell us anything: then they simply remain silent during testing.
Every now and then, you still find access to them; but usually you have to accept the silence of a fragrance and look out for other beauties.
Fortunately, we have the choice.
for me, especially now in the middle of winter, "Yesterday" stands for memories and hopes at the same time; for the summer of the day before yesterday and the day after tomorrow:
Memories of last summer and hope for the one to come.
After just a few splashes, I find myself in the middle of a rustic Mediterranean garden; the sun is warming and a light breeze playfully tugs at the hem of my light skirt: I have left the winter skins behind me; perhaps they are also in the small farmhouse made of field stones opposite.
It's nice here: Everything is a little more rustic, no fence, no hedge separates this so pleasantly herbaceous wilderness from the expanse of blooming lavender fields that stretch gently up and down towards distantly recognizable mountain ranges.
The spicy scent on my skin is a mixture of the fresh, spicy aromas of the nearby Hesperides grove with its richly leafy trees, their varnished dark green foliage and numerous fruits in varying degrees of ripeness and colors from pale unripe light green to strong yellow and golden orange: a caress for the senses.
Green and herbaceous spices from this kitchen garden clearly dominate: what would Mediterranean cuisine be without strong thyme and basil with its familiar peppery note? I don't recognize every herb in the melange of scents, but I am happy about every fragrance that envelops me in a flattering way.
Of course, woody and earthy nuances are also part of a balanced fragrance:
We meet old acquaintances from many base creations here in the form of sandalwood and vetiver.
There is also a light cape for cooler moments.
But instead of the usual rich, warmly embracing vanilla aromas with the familiar slightly animalic-erotic small animal tones, to my surprise a good dose of the more harmless tonka bean cuddle scent, this time paired with white musk, has been woven into a harmonious finale and, together with the other richly developed fragrance notes, is reminiscent of one of the lilac and gold-colored, so romantic sunsets of Provence and its beautiful fragrance paintings.
Sillage and longevity are very round and balanced for such a summery composition.
With its summery Mediterranean charm, this creation evokes memories of many summers past and, at the same time, hope for the one to come.
I like that, because how quickly "the day after tomorrow" becomes "yesterday" again in this day and age.
