Roses have many spines
And that's a good thing. Fragrances of roses also sometimes have "spines", which is often very advantageous.
In the case of Lutens' creation "Sa Majesté La Rose", these "spines" consist of cloves and precious woods. Yeah, she's just studded with it. The dark red, spicy fragrant flowers are in the foreground, but my interest in this fragrance has only awakened THIS skilful combination. To reinforce flowery "spice" with "spicy spice", on the other hand to create a "substructure" of woods to soften the tips, to enrich the fragrance as such all the more, was already a brilliant idea of the two perfumers-hands Sege Lutens and Christopher Sheldrake. They have been working together for a long time and see perfume art as their main artistic mission. And sometimes the most unbelievable and "moving" scent situations come out, which many a nose perceives as "unwearable".
But in the case of the "majestic rose", the concept of "art by the scent" has worked, but I find this work to be quite acceptable. And since even to very many occasions.
She embeds the rose as a flower in a kind of very own natural environment. They surround other plants (trees and shrubs) with fragrant aromas.
A rose alone is beautiful to look at, but somehow it seems "lost" in an otherwise ungrown environment besides its "conspecifics". That's why the "green" beginning in the theme is just as much a part of it as the cloves, spines and the astringency of the wood. Only then is it complete.
