A Peaceful Meditative Oriental Musk
I wore China Rain back in the Early 90's and I am surprised and delighted that it is still around today. It is a very soft oriental musk perfume oil and it melts easily into the skin where it will persist for 8 or so hours. Ava Luxe's Pearl Musk smells very similar to China Rain. What comes out for me is a lilting lily note and a clean haunting white musk note...that holds together for hours in a mesmerizing spell. When I smell this, what comes to mind is- Me circa 1990 (!) and since that person feels like a complete stranger- to present day me- it is only of passing interest. At the time, I found it very centering, calming and mood balancing. China Rain is a sheer peaceful musk, distinctly different from the TBS or Jovan White Musk group, yet also easily suitable for anytime day, night and really any season when the mood strikes you. China rain is solemn and pure and contemplative in some respects, like a a fresh gust of wind through a mountain temple high in the Himilayas. For me I outgrew China Musk when I got hooked on Lumiere by Rochas, then Eternity, Fracas, Fendi and so on...I have never looked back on any of my old loves. But I sampled China rain the other day at my local grocery store and I must say, it was just like old times and just as good as I remember it.
