Malted hazelnut gourmand
I had already tested this Al Contrario a few years ago and now it's in my collection. In terms of price, this Al Contrario was a bit overpriced for me, especially as it is the only fragrance in the Black range that comes in 50ml. The other fragrances in the range come in 100ml at the same price. Nevertheless, this Al Contrario is one of the better-selling fragrances in the Black Collection.
50ml should be more than enough here as it is not a daily at all.
Tested a few years ago via a small sample, which I tested from time to time after a few months or years. A difficult fragrance to classify and not suitable for every occasion. However, if you are looking for something unique, you have come to the right place. Of course, you should be able to tolerate and wear gourmand notes.
I think the RRP of €200 is excessive. Even before inflation, the 170€ was a bit overpriced for me, especially for 50ml. If you can get it for around €100, that's fine.
Al Contrario seems to be the translation of the other way around. Matching the bottle: In contrast to the other 100ml fragrances in this series, you get a 50ml fragrance with a huge lid and a small bottle. The label is also on the lid. Original. Out of habit, you already want to spray with the lid.
This sweet and gourmand fragrance goes all out. Should not necessarily be bought blind. If you are looking for a different gourmand that stands out from the usual sweets, this tends to be the right one: cozy notes such as malt, hazelnut, cocoa and a little sugar are very present here. A very warm aura that stands out. The malt opening in particular is extremely unique. Malt is very rare and this one scores with its uniqueness. But not everyone will like it. This pleasant cocoa note also fits in perfectly. The vanilla in the pyramid is not present, but you get a lot of sweetness throughout, but more of a tonka sweetness with some sugared notes. The hazelnut also kicks in early and provides a slight hanuta vibe. Extremely pleasing without getting lost in the crowd. The base is also quite pleasant with woody-balsamic notes plus this hazelnut-tonka sweetness. Overall very round and pleasing.
Performance is criticized in some statements. For me, it is so persistent and this fragrance easily reaches double digits with initially heavy sillage. With Terenzi you only get extraits, which you can tell. This one does justice to a gourmand and should rather be worn in leisure time and in the evening.
Overall, a very pleasing and unique gourmand, especially due to the malt. Especially this malt-cocoa top note should be tested, which is already very present for 3-4 hours. The rest of the fragrance is more pleasant and ordinary, but not boring. A great gourmand for ladies and gentlemen.
