Amber absolute

Tom Ford - Amber Absolute
My Amber No. 63

And you fall in the bushes. And in resin. In bright resin of green twigs and carrying incense. Into a nest of dark dreams. A pleasant woody brown, labdanum brown, and around you a small, protective wall. Sprayed with a trace of benzoin. Hardly noticeable. And of tender, pungent vanilla. All earthy, dry, massive and round. Pure amber. Robust and rough and infinitely warm.

But your imagination gets stuck on that little wall. No wandering off into the distance. No flying off to scents of other worlds. Surrounded by beautiful darkness and heavy shine you enjoy the nest. The beguiling amber gives you silent harmony
Warm for hours. Hourly. Absolutely.

Not hired after all? Or only halfway?
Preliminary short storytime:
I was recently the first time in London and of course had to visit the Harrods. One hears yes again and again what of the whole Exclusives of the brands for the department store and I was accordingly curious. Interestingly, there is a large perfume department on the first floor with everything the heart desires, but micht not all Exclusives. The real paradise is the sixth floor at the top, which was not so easy to find. On a gauntlet of (exuberant) luxuriousness, however, I finally caught the right escalator and was there. An aisle with rooms open to the left and right for individual brands, such as Roja, Xerjoff and more. Tom Ford also had its own small boutique and I immediately noticed the decanters: Amber Absolute, Italian Cypress, Arabian Wood. I thought "they are discontinued, aren't they?!". I got into a conversation with the nice saleswoman and she said that these fragrances are exclusive to Tom Ford's Harrods and also only in the 250ml decanter. It seemed as if she did not know that these were also once accessible to the broad market and also in other sizes (or am I wrong, if so please correct :) ). I find it interesting that Tom Ford doesn't seem to have made any actual exclusive fragrances for Harrods, but simply sells a few of the discontinued ones there. So who loves this or the other fragrances more than anything else and has the wherewithal, in London they are available.
So now to the fragrance: it starts relatively spicy smoky with clearly recognizable incense. That lays but relatively quickly and an extremely balanced slightly sweet, slightly woody and very resinous amber fragrance comes to light, which is very very nice but for me now has not opened a new world. However, it must be said that it conveys a very warm sense of security and is definitely a feel-good scent. Durability and sillage are very good, the dabs from the decanter have left a really yellow color on my skin, which was also present hours later in parallel with the fragrance.
Thanks for reading

Togetherness in front of the fireplace
Lost in thought, I drive straight home after work. It's been such a long week and it's dark and cold outside. I'm already looking forward to the weekend with you. As soon as I arrive home, I am greeted by the delicious smell of Christmas cookies you baked for us. You greet me with a kiss and ask me about my day. We put on smooth jazz, sit on the couch in front of the fireplace and drink mulled wine to warm up. Outside it's snowing, but we don't notice anything...

Amber Absolute is slightly spicy, a little smoky, yet also a little "boozy" and quite cozy warm. In a sense, a romantic and at the same time not for the faint of heart. It is long lasting, intense and expressive, yet it does not overwhelm. An inexperienced nose will not immediately understand it, but once you get used to its opulence, you will never get the fragrance out of your head.

He is a legend!

A real treat!
Many have compared this one to SL Ambre Sultan. I suppose there are similarities in that both are intense amber frags with a good hit of spices. But where AS draws its sillage from honeyed undertones, AA goes for the booze.
I put it on and the depth is immediately emphasized with Cognac effluves, it's dizzying in a good way.
Less herbaceous than AS, this one goes for deep darkness, it is thick and dense but not syrupy or cloying.
And its longevity is off the charts!
Amber fans will appreciate this one.

AMBER ABSOLUTE by Tom Ford
Tom Ford worked with nose Christophe Laudamiel to create his Private Blend offering, Amber Absolute. Laudamiel has been the creative genius behind many successful names such as Estée Lauder, Harvey Nichols, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Thierry Mugler and Tommy Hilfiger.

Amber Absolute starts the show with an unbelievable frankincense opening, dense, gentle and smoky. At the heart, notes of amber and woods wiggle their way in. This fragrance truly develops into one of the best amber scents available. Amber Absolute has a fabulous burnt carmel accord that dominates the heart of this fragrance and is warm, smooth and inviting. The vanilla base is slightly sweet and very pleasing, giving Amber Absolute a creamy richness without being overly sweet or heady. The addition of Labdanum assists in balancing this fragrance, but not in the typical powdery finish. It is more luxurious and plays more of a supporting role for the dense amber structure. This is truly a opulent concoction.

A little goes a long way with Amber Absolute. Sillage is very good and longevity is amazing. This fragrance can still be going strong well over 15 hours after application. Like a fine wine, Amber Absolute only gets better with time. Please don't make any hasty decisions within the first hour or so. This fragrance needs time to develop for a full appreciation of its complexity. If you are a true lover of amber, this is a fragrance that you shouldn't live without.

Well-balanced from the fruity, slightly tipsy start over the smoky-balsamic development to the powdery-resinous base. Great!

I usually can't stand sweet-vanillic fragrances but this is so intoxicating! Simply the best amber I've had to tried so far.

Top notes are surprisingly harsh with a bristly texture. Heart and base are steady, linear; resins and woods featuring fatty/waxy vanilla.
