One of the most beautiful Roman legends tells that Flora, goddess of spring and flowers, asked the other Gods to help her transform her deceased friend into the Queen of Flowers. One god had given her life back to her, another had immersed her in her nectar, another had given her her perfume, another her fruit, and the goddess Flora had given her the petals. The result was, of course, the Rose.
The Queen of flowers, here expressed in her delicacy and strength at the same time.
She appears delicate, spring-like, spicy and slightly pungent, the kind I prefer.
A newly bloomed rose on a spring morning.
“A Thorn Among the Roses” painted by James Sant.
