Rawda - a memory of My Day In the Sun

No clouds filter the sun in a summer sky,
We'll take a walk, you and I.
Let's wander down to the lakeshore
And skim some stones.

We'll sit in dry grass, three feet tall or more.
You know that it is you I adore,
So let's picnic in the sun
and quench our thirst.

The rhododendron are in bloom,
Betwixt them there is little room
But let's squeeze past to find some shade
Under the trees.

We planned our life, you and I
As the dragonfly danced by
And all around us fragrant earth.
We smiled and smiled that day.

Though life rolled on and took its toll
It's not really far at all
To summer's sun, dry grass, and trees,
I'll close my eyes;

Smile;

Breathe.

My day in the sun
When I was dearly loved.
