The writing was probably on the wall but I did not pay much attention. Neither do most perfume customers. Whatever is new, is heavily advertised, and is in the foreground, is most likely purchased. Of new brands and new flankers in the main stream market, there are many. A wave of offerings, how can anyone escape.

Niche products are expensive. Only the initiated truly appreciate these products. Their noses have been educated and they are willing to pay the price. But the niche crowd is not large and grows mostly by word-of-mouth recommendations, on Forums such like this, and even then, how much can one buy, store and truly appreciate.

I am willing to pay good money for a good niche product, but not often.
