Untamed, unchanged, unusual
This is the original formula, so I read in various places. If the ladies and gents wore this in early 1925, then hats off. They wore a damn good perfume. So what is in it? Orange zest, ambered cognac, roasted almonds, patchouli ... ah, yes patchouli. This note is usually one I stay away from, but here it is very unobtrusive, really buried within the other delectable notes and a cloud of powder.

I can wear this! Feel comfortable and carry about an understated ladylike aura. This scent is modern and old-fashioned at the same time. The old-fashioned vibe may be the dustiness, the modern vibe is the cool, restrained blend of gourmand notes with a continuous subtle touch of powder.

Leave your trail in the elevator? Not quite heavy enough, but certainly noticeable. After the scent settles down it lasts still many hours close to the skin.

"Horizon" is the first of the Oriza perfumes I have tested. They have a very good sample program and customs did not seem to mind. Beats me. I am glad that I used it while it is still possible.

I will never wear this
Much too sweet. Typically a designer issue. After a few days with MDCI Paris exquisite concoctions, I cannot stand it. Good bye. A sweet, almost wet, floral stream with one particularly intense note.

Numerous German members praise it, it is very much to their liking. Go over and read these. Perhaps they are fair to the scent.

All I can say is that the note ensemble is so penetrating that I now have to go and wash it off.

PHI - Une Rose de Kandahar
Andy Tauer's latest rose creation is another gem. A gem as such. I don't know what PHI stands for, but I read in his blog that it is a rose scent with precious, natural absolue ingredients ... and therefore a limited edition. The next harvest oil may not turn out the same exact batch. Notes and technical background are not my forte, but what I can put is my impression of this perfume.

It envelops you like a soft cloud. Roses, roses with a touch of slighty bitter brownness ... I suppose the cinnamon, geranium and almond have something to do with that. That takes the edge of a brilliant rose and makes an almost skin scent, so warm and close. It projects only a little, actually I had to spray on a lot, but then it lasts the major part of the day. The beauty is that the sillage and skin smell alike, and I cannot stop stiffing up closely and delight how good it smells.

It does not hit the nose like mainstream perfumes do with a boost of flowerbomb notes and a lot of sweetness, rather it is a soft veil where beautiful, delectable, almost gourmand (caramel candy) notes swirl around also. Tobacco leaves? Maybe. If so, that is one good aromatic soft and subtle tobacco.

The best reviews you will find in Kafka's blog. Refer to that if you really want to know.

If I did not have already similar perfumes, I would buy it when it is available in a Tauer Perfumes Explorer Set. Those are easier for shipping as postal air shipment restrictions hinder the flow.

Thumbs up. Another scent well worthy of Andy Tauer's reputation. I have the feeling that it may become a landmark, a big success.

Vanilla
If you love Vanilla scents, this is your perfume. I was curious. We had a long discussion about dupes at Fragrantica and because INDULT "Tihota" was only available in a limited edition and written up in the perfume blog internet world as extraordinary ... we wanted to get a whiff of it via a dupe. This dupe came from a Candlemaker firm and when I tested it on paper, it simply smelled wonderful. Out of this world. Sexy. That was on paper. On my arm, I did not want to test it, because essential oils are harsh and diluted, well, it would not be as potent.

Okay. The minute the news came through that "Tihota" is again available, I followed this information like a bloodhound. A sample from LUCKYSCENT quickly landed in the mailbox.

On my arm next. Let us see, I mean sniff and experience. What I get in a full beautiful impact is Vanilla, Vanilla, Vanilla. The purest Vanilla I have ever experienced. Mostly when Vanilla is an ingredient as part of a perfume composition, it has its creamy and powdery presence. Here, it is pure.

I went into the kitchen and compared it with Vanilla baking oil. That smelled authentic but raw, with edges, in a way "unkempt". "Tihota" is very fine, subtle and for lack of another word, "angelic".

The notes list Musk and Tonkabean. That is possible, although my rather unprofessional nose smells Vanilla from beginning to end.

For the lovers of Vanilla - try this and you may absolutely adore it.

Quite frankly, speaking for myself, I like the scent ... but want it to be more rounded out with something else. More "flower power". (I found that in a floral creamy perfume "La Route d'Emeraude", at which "meeting" I could not get enough of it and kept sniffing the arm.)

Maybe for another perfumista "Tihota" provides that "cannot stop sniffing" experience. For me, it stopped at being fair and scientific about the scent.

It projects just a little, depending how heavy one wishes to put it on, but it has very good lasting power.

The price is high, maybe with the new launch it can be made in smaller sizes, we shall see. I still would not buy it. I have seen (sniffed) enough. For me it does not have enough "flower power".

Ever so dainty
This is a well made perfume that is almost not there, and when one gets up close, there is this intricate clean aroma of fresh little flowers. Which flowers, I don't know, but I am intrigued enough. Freshly ironed shirt also comes to mind. Powdery iris lends some substance.

I would not go out of my way to purchase it, because a similar one - "Aqua Allegoria Ylang & Vanille" by Guerlain - gives me a bigger presence of this type of "greet the morning" perfume.

Nice.
