Coumarin and the tussling flowers
A swhirl of heliotropic, irissy, coumarinic fumes, almost like dry/sweet fruity violets with wood. Almost like a floral balsamic polish. A sappish green aspect of elemi playing with the the balsams and flowers, a sharper citric musk and fruits. Quite a jumble of tussling floral and balsam ingredients who feel like they are being ruled by a schoolma'am of coumarin. I am confused about the listed notes in this whole range because my nose hasn't picked up much of what they say and a lot of what they don't. Nearly to the point where I wonder if the same perfumes are on my skin. Coumarin is the ruler on my skin in this perfume and it's just not there. The sharper sides of sappy woods are peeking out from a fairly floral waxy feel after a while and settle into a more comfortable softer coumarinic woody creature upon drydown. An interesting journey.

Dark dried flowers
Peachy, rosy in a cold way, spicy, thin and quite dark. A sombre perfume for serious occasions. My nose is picking up on a slightly spicy cold saffron note that isn't listed. In fact I see no spice listed so it must be the absinth creating this feel. Seamless blending with no notes jutting out more than the others creating a slick effect. Rosa nigra feels like an impression of some old dried flowers on some parchment paper and to my nose, it has an incense vibe with an old dusty powdery coldness. Interesting and wearable but certainly not cheerful. Nice for smart business meetings.

Cold yet warm, yet cold.
Initially this took me aback at first sniff. My nose wasn't sure what to make of this. It peceived this as an astringent pine, minty clean just scoured ceramic surface with a cold facet of myrrh. It evoked a vague scent memory of a familiar bathroom cleaner but just for a nanosecond before warming up and heading for a woodier zone and the pine/mint feel translating to fresh air. The cold myrrh facet remains like cold night air in a pine forest with incense and a fire burning in the distance. It must be aromatic herbs, cloves and rosewood creating this pine feeling because it isn't listed in the notes. It gets warmer and dustier which now translates as a picture of an old church library, parchment books, clean incense and cloves. The sweetness present is almost as dry as a bone and never cloying. This is so seamless that my nose must be playing tricks on me looking at the listed notes. I'm getting nothing like I would imagine those notes to smell like together. I tend to smell with a clean mind and not look too hard at the notes beforehand. This warms up to a spicy dry incense library fireside, almost warming imperceptibly, but someone never quite shuts the door on the cold draft of air running through it. A most intriguing and rather curious fragrance of appeal to incense lovers.

Ancient resins it is
Sharp and smooth resins intermingle and jiggle with each other for supremacy. The elemi carries them along on a gently green tinged fresh saplike fug, Benzoin and labdanum for once not really interfering with the sharper citrus aspects of the frankincense but supporting gently from within without sweetness. I don't know canary balm but there is a soft bark-like aroma here that I am unfamiliar with. This does what it says on the box. No surprises but pleasant.

The undergarments are holding up.
I just dug this out of the sample drawer when hunting for a Jar fragrance. I can see why this might be compared to NK but it is only a small part within that bears the incense section resembling it. The rest is a heliotropic sweet floral biggie with a good incense twang. There are lots of seemingly dried fruits and raisins. The drydown gets closer to NK. It is reminding me enormously of the hippie oils of the late 70's but has a cedar-ish doughy fermented quality that keeps it more modern. I'm now being strongly transported to eating raisin and cinnamon bagels whilst sitting in a wat. This is pretty enormous just for one skinny little frankincense note which normally has a sharper quality than this one seems to. I'm smelling a huge support act here of something akin to a hydrocarboresine. Heliotrope can be pretty huge though, but there is an undercurrent here that smacks of rubber underwear. This is lychee, heliotrope, frankincense, I reckon some spice and an extra tight laced up corset ducky. Those three ingredients are not shouting this loud without a megaphone. The perfume is quite pleasant if you like these sorts of resinous whoppers.
