Musk and Ambergris

Musk and Ambergris 8 years ago
Should I assume, every time I see Musk or Ambergris etc as a base note of a specific perfume, that a material derived from an animal was used for that perfume? Or could that be an artificial substitute?

Musk should almost always be synthetic. Musk synthetics are much less expensive and more humane than natural.
Ambergris, on the other hand, is very rare and one of the most expensive substances on earth.

I can't think of anything apart from some boutique-y massively high dollar fragrance that'd have naturals of both in it.
