So far, Parfumo is as mute as a fish, and I think we should change that!

Which song or piece of music fits well to a specific fragrance?

Suggestions, please!

I particularly liked these two choices. For as long as I've been in music I've never even heard of Paul Lincke much less his Berliner Luft! If you feel about Joop fragrances the way I do then you must especially like when the vuvuzuelas enter! I'd like the razz Joop for the money I've spent on their fragrances! RazzRazzRazz

Many oriental scents remind me of Claude Debussy's Arabesque #1 from his Deux Arabesques for Piano. The first time I had this association was the first time wore Chanel Allure Homme. This video and recording, however, remind me more of Divine's Eau Divine which develops into a more translucent, colorful fragrance. This video is very synesthetic if you think of the color of scent and the effect of sillage.

We are far behind!

I've always loved Creed's Baie de Genièvre because it strikes me as very formal, stiff and starched, but in a good way. Since I spend my working days in a tuxedo or tails Baie de Genièvre seems a perfect match; something right out of Edwardian England all the way through to PG Wodehouse's Jeeves in the 1930's. Although as I was checking the Baie de Genièvre page for spelling and accents I discovered it's been discontinued! It's like the Crawleys being forced to move out of Downton!

I don't know Back to Black by Kilian so I had to take a look at the Parfumo page to see what it's all about. Not only is the title of the song a close match but that wild assortment of notes in the fragrance is probably good match for Brian Johnson's wild voice. Nice choice, BG2!

I'm going to bend the rules and present a poem. What is a poem but the music of words, right? This is Shakespeare's Sonnet 54 "O, how much more doth beauty beauteous seem"
The "canker rose" mentioned in the poem is a wild rose which seems close to the green, dewy rose essence used in Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau.
If nothing else just the poem's image of a rose becoming perfume is worth posting here.
The sonnet is performed by British stage actress Polly Frame.

Thierry Mugler A-men Pure Leather to Muse--Madness

The man in the video looks like someone who would work the runway for Thierry Mugler.

I am horribly addicted to this song. It's unhealthy.

I don't know Shalimar Ode a la Vanille at all, but listening to Nights In White Satin makes me imagine in a synesthetic way it is a very rich vanilla.

Yes, it certainly is a lovely rich vanilla...and it was so strange that this song came to mind!
