Papyrus silk, mauve grey
the lip colour fits exactly
lavender blue eyes

the bench made of wood
the shoulders proud
the barber liked to be good

a moment of tenderness
longing and loneliness
of the gentle, cool emptiness

velvet-like skin
foreign and familiar
the curl falls of the scissors

a hint of smoke
Oranges also
the bitter, dark, green

leafy in tree
to suspect hardly
still untouched by bees

deep dark black
one drop resin
creamy smooth sweetness

a path in the forest
the air almost cold
ethereal-clear greetings

one man, British distinguished
in leather, tweed - civilized
at court, in the arena

so picture follows picture
sometimes herb-markant, sometimes sensual-mild
in Iris Nazarena

Regina Algida...
There is a handful of very old cloth shops in my hometown, which have not undergone a renovation since the '70s. Upon initial spraying Iris Nazarena smells exactly like they do. Perhaps there was some very popular and widely used air freshener back then, or more likely something used in the proccessing of the fabrics, and thus the characteristic smell has pervaded their walls permanently. And for some strange reason, I was feeling rather uncomfortable being in such shops as a child, although I loved the seemingly endless variety of their merchandise. This "blast from the past" nostalgic quality slowly fades away after a couple of hours, and what is left, is something that an ice queen would leave lingering in her wake. Something like a distant titter in a dark winter night, that clutches your heart with icy fingers. I sense no welcome here, and this ashen grey industrial smell is so devoid of any warmth that it makes me shiver with conflicting feelings of pleasure and dread. Contradictive? Perhaps. But contradictions are not necessarily a flaw, cause while contradictive perfumes can be either good or bad, what they cannot be is indifferent. And this is already a merit, at least in terms of interest picking, and more than enough to make them stand out in our contemporary faceless perfume times. And Iris Nazarena has a face. A scary one perhaps, but still a face...

One Iris to Rule Them All
Iris Nazarena is my most wearable iris scent that I find truly masterful, beautiful and unique. It uses a different kind of iris, the Bismarckiana variety that grows in the mountainous regions of Israel, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. It's exceptionally delicate but still long-lasting; it's noticeable 8+ hours later even though it's not in your face.
It starts off with iris, slightly powdery, and sweet, this scent is typically thought of as dusty and dry, and it is those things, but below the dry surface, the roots are teeming with life. If Iris Silver Mist is the scent of Hades, then this is Persephone's perfume, the goddess of Spring and the goddess of the Underworld. This perfume is an appreciation of both death and life, arid and rooty, yet filled with vibrance. The sweetness is accentuated by incense, the dryness by suede. The juniper and anise bring out umami in the scent, it has a complementary quality that balances sweet, sour, bitter, and salty notes.

What's wonderful about this perfume, is that you can't smell the notes individually, they all exist to complement the iris and as it develops you experience different qualities of the flower, from it blooming to it drying out and being processed into its usage for perfume.
Truly wonderful, possibly my favourite iris perfume for how it honours- worships the note!

To be rude
This is a must-try for fan of iris, a really strong and characteristic one.

I am sorry, I am going to be rude now due to the fact that my nose is not on such high and refined level as on others, and not enough sensitive for such noble notes as iris.

IRIS NAZARENA for me:
1. Demolitions expert + paper scent of an engineering textbook.
2. Plasticine odor. (Best kind: LUCTOR ET EMERGO, worst kind: you have to chose one for yourself, for me winner of this competitions will definitely contain iris.)
3. The base is a stingy-smoky, dark scent.
4. Aftergame on the next day: disease odor.

And of course, the additional information: the ingredients are high quality, even though I wrote very harsh attributives, IRIS NAZARENA is not synthetic even a bit. It can be worn by women or men (right: almost 50-50% is the ratio of the owners between the two genders, when I am writing this), the bottle is elegant and longevity is just excellent.

A Story In Itself.
A haunting composition. Powdery with a sharp spicy resinous shadow looming over it. The oud and star anise follow the bright blue melancholy of the iris. As they follow in behind the iris, they stomp down the tart juniper and the powdery rose, working it into the muddy mulch of grass and filth. This filth is not like filth we’re used to, these lands are opulent and refined with a foreboding air. It feels very Silmarillion. Men frolicking in their lands, while orcs and ring wraiths emanate the earthy scent of vetiver, dank patchouli and oud at their borders. The air is getting fouler and the scent more oppressive, hanging thick the longer their presence persists.

As much as the hordes of orcs have desecrated the fields, treading all flowers into the ground, the iris’ remain. They are hauntingly in the background for the vetiver, frankincense and patchouli. The spice from the clove and star anise play with the vetiver giving it a lush green hue despite its dryness.

This is a must try. An experience. A journey. It’s the perfect scent for autumn or spring, the transformational seasons, as this too undergoes a transformation that is befitting of both seasons.

Full bottle worthy? For some. For me? Possibly… possibly. It’s a joy to wear.

Very straightforward cold waxy iris. I can't pick up more happening here but some frankincense, so not the most interesting scent to me.
