Crisp, Clean, Energizing and Natural-smelling Vetiver Cologne
Berdoues 1902 VETIVERA HERBACEA is a delightful vetiver fragrance which opens quite brightly and dries down to a lovely ashen vetiver scent reminiscent to my nose of both Caron Le 3eme Homme and ELdO JASMIN ET CIGARETTE. The notes are quite different, but the texture is the same.
The only time that I actually use this cologne is upon returning home on a hot day. It feels and smells great and really lifts my spirits. I love how the opening is so bright and energizing, and the drydown is calm and smooth. This is probably the most masculine of the Berdoues 1902 colognes, but it is unisex enough for me to wear. I love vetiver, actually, and am happy to have found such a naturally smelling fragrance in which that note figures prominently. I used to wear Guerlain VETIVER now and then, but then I gave my pre-Y2K bottle to a male friend, and now of course it is no longer the same, so there's no point in acquiring yet another bottle of an imposter posing as a formerly great creation.
One of the primary virtues of the Berdoues 1902 Collection is that these colognes are made with essential oils and really do smell very natural. This is nothing like Lalique ENCRE NOIR, which to me wafts vaguely of toner cartridges and can only be worn every few months for that reason. In contrast, VETIVER HERBACEA smells crisp, clean and as though it is made of ingredients sourced from this planet rather than Mars.
