longest development ever, drydown worth the wait

Alluring opened with a blast of bitter woodiness that lasted a couple of hours. Yes, hours.

Eventually, though, the loveliness emerged and I found myself engulfed by a narcotically blissful cloud of fresh roses and honey, accented by wood and a touch of fruit.

So smooth and subtle, but with amazing projection and longevity. Loud? No. Strong? Yes.

This goes onto my short list of budget-breaking potential purchases for 2014.

Addendum: Today I wore this for the second time, and this time the bitter woodiness did not fade away near as much as the first time, and not enough for me. I'm afraid I have to take this off my wishlist, as it's just not lucious enough for me. :-(

Victorious Autumn

ALLURING - sometimes the name can mislead. Boadicea prefers short names, but I would rather choose this: "TRIUMPHANT AUTUMN".

A very exaggerated honey is slapping in the face as outpost. After making sure that I am defeated and not dangerous anymore, it gives the sign for the treasures: they can come out from the hideaway. And they venture out.

Roasted hard-shell seeds, lewd shrivelled prune, blessed autumn fragrances, like rosehip, cornel, blueberries bitten by white frost. Honey is still protecting them from dehydration.
1-2 hours later the fragrance is more refined, honey fades away, the scent recalls the aroma of the street, when the pavement is covered by colorful brown and yellow, whispering leaves.
The dryness melts into a warm and sweet, woody base, and makes me smile.

I have to say thank you to Judit, who spent a very long time with me in the shop to find the best choice for my taste, and after got to know my style, gave me ALLURING as a gift.

Captivating

I bought this in Harrods on a recent trip to London, making a HUGE hole in my fragrance shopping budget and I couldn't be happier!!
Firstly, it was SUCH a pleasure to be taken on an olfactory adventure by a very clued up (and sexy!!) sales associate (ta Will) who waded through my very obscure taste with me ... pretty much spraying every last rose based frag made by the company on a strip and then helping me whittle down what I wanted to try on my skin.
Alluring brought back intense olfactory memories for me, transporting me to the original formulations of Aramis 900 and Aromatics Elixir ... I kid you not! Deeper and a little darker than either of those, this is a sillage bomb and lasts on me for well over 12 hours! That alone makes it incredible, but the gorgeous Rose/Wood combination with faint traces of patchouli (a note I generally dislike) made this the keeper. There's a herbal quality here, just a touch medicinal for a while before the most beautiful rose blooms ... sweet and succulent, a rose caught and bottled in her prime. Magic!!! Plus the bottle and the packaging are truly stunning ... I'm hooked :o).
