How the Schuhplattler was born..
In the summer holidays of 1982, a family of four set off from Kiel to the south. The two boys (11 and 7 years old) would cross the Weisswurst equator for the first time. We went to the Berchtesgadener Land, to the tranquil village of Marktschellenberg. From there we visited Salzburg, hiked at Königssee, marvelled at Watzmann and Hochkalter.

I have a particularly vivid detailed memory of one of our excursions. We walked through a rather lonely, gloomy needle wood, which gradually thinned out at some point, when suddenly masses of brakes threw themselves at us and bit, bit, bit... We were on our way in short trousers and from now on only in the process of wiggling to beat the critters off our legs. This is how the Schuhplattler must one day have developed.

Finally an inn came into sight, in the back of a meadow! We escaped, the swarm fortunately left us. We children were each given a bravery species that turned out to be (for us) 0.4-liter monsters - hardly manageable, but finally full of soda, after all, such things were otherwise strictly rationed.

How did the woods you walked through smell? I don't know, the only thing I can think of is the brake history. I'm glad I can catch up on the sniffing now! My thanks for that go to Mokka.

46°N 08°E opens sour-terpentine, a trace sugary. The acidity of the resin may have been helped a little, but everything fits together lifelike. Essential oils quickly emerge, which are strong in character, but have been used so moderately that the smell does not become medical, but really and truly remains completely natural.

Already after one hour the resin is extremely mild; the remaining citric parts get almost something lemonade-like in combination with the ethereal freshness and the underlying sugary note. Aha - our shower in the Wald-Gasthof!

While Harzlings like Goutals Nuit Etoilée or Hinoki would like to take me into the idealized fairytale-like or philosophically enraptured, 46°N 08°E stays in the here and now. It has a not quite tangible, simple lightness of its own, as I already know it from 44°N 03°E. A pause and enjoyment completely without ulterior motive claim.

Lange gives me 46°N 08°E the opportunity to catch up almost 36 years ago. The scent is enormously static, therefore a pure mood scent. The alleged "campfire" hides itself from me to a large extent, only the so-called "lichens" I like to follow, some herbaceous elements give mainly in the afternoon a gentle, background green spice in. Otherwise I walk through the forest and simply smell my quiet, unpretentious resin wood. A beautiful forest. And then it's good - time to stop for a bite to eat. Maybe to a species...?

Criminal case in Switzerland
Wensker and his crew were in constant use this weekend. Every summer there was a metal festival in Aicha vorm Wald. Their security, much more professional than Schubert and Haller, had most things under control. But from time to time police presence was needed. This year, it was thought, this would be especially the case, since the festival was cancelled last year. In addition, a special band had announced itself from Switzerland, whose frontmen called themselves Bloodxclat and Siegbert Claudius Crava, called Che by everyone. As a rule, a lot of things got broken during their performances, equipment and noses. In addition, the first rows usually wrapped themselves in rain capes, even when the sun was shining brightly. The knowing audience resorted to empirical evidence.

Now one was called quite briskly, on the spot offered itself Wensker then the following picture: "what is going on here? First of all, good day, gentlemen!"
"Hello Officer, all the beer has been stolen, the mob is going crazy with thirst! Don't let anything else happen!"
"Any leads on the culprit? Or the perpetrators?"
"A couple of rockers were seen leaving drunk just before and one must have lost a piercing."
"Let me see that." Wensker read "Made in Herne." "more likely a beer piercing, Gacker."

Suddenly a shout and two sinister figures were seen pike across the square towards cars without number plates. Shortly after, the initiators of the festival came to Wensker in a state of dissolution: "Robbed! We've been robbed! After them!"
"Schubert! Haller! After them! I'm doing this!"
Turning to the initiators: "what were those guys?"
"We recognized little, one had something of Che Guevara only without the beard, without the hair, rather Caucasian, but otherwise...well, differently dressed, also differently tall and the weight did not fit either."
"Anything else?"
"the two of them smelled special, so natural like the forest."
"Tell me more!"
"What can I say? It smells like a forest. Like fir trees by a clear mountain lake. Like resin. After pines on the slope of a mountain amidst greenery, and a mild sun is enthroned above it. Like an idyll without people. In the background there is a cool note, it smells of moss, it smells balsamic, it smells calming and dreamy. It smells of home, of home unchanged for centuries. Does that help you?"
"Yes. Now I want to take a vacation there," Wensker flattened. Didn't go down well so he continued:

"Okay, all right. With luck, my colleagues got them too. Here they come already....what kind of elevator are you in?"
"Hello Cheffe, were still at the merchandising stand, we have bought a few cool shirts. Do we stand out less here."
Wensker read: "Amon Amarth....Lunar Aurora....so, so. And the camouflage works despite the khaki pants and police cap?"
"There's still a drinking helmet to get over it but then"
"And where are the thieves?"
"We lost them at the stall. The trader asked so nicely and you don't want to be rude."
"......."

Once at the station they were dejected until the intern came in, "Guys, look, are these your two that got multiple flashes here? Tracking says they crossed the border into Switzerland."
"Well, they're...wait a minute! They're playing with that band! Che! So the one from the festival was right! After them!"
They jumped in the car and since the band's bassist, Bloodxclat, shared their current coordinates on social media, they knew they had to get to Spechhorn in the Valais Alps.

Wensker and his men got off at their destination and followed their nose. They knew the scent from the festival, but here it seemed very natural. No wonder, it smelled like forest here, like resin, like nature.
"How it smells here! Wonderful! Of fir, of pine, simply picturesque, simply woodsy-elysian!"
"All right, Haller! I don't want you to be a faun and dance around here."
"Who knows? That ethereal cooling element underneath, that makes a lot of difference! Gives the pines something deep and sublime! It smells more than green, it really smells like nature. A quiet scent but yet always noticeable."

Then Wensker called out, "There they are! Leaning against trees, drinking Hardöpfel and eating fondue! Put them down!"
Schubert and Haller quickly rolled forward with ninja rolls, both unfortunately then rolling into a creek. So Wensker rules it, "Hands up! Good so! Now I'll tie you to trees for now!"
After Schubert and Haller were also back, Wensker gave the duo the guarding while he took care in the reinforcement.
Suddenly Che spoke up, "Hey, you two! Are you guys even in charge of Switzerland?"
Schubert and Haller turned around in amazement, "Uh, uh, no?"
"Yes, then you'll have to cut us loose, that's not the way to do it."
"Hm...he's right, Schubert. Untie them!"
Laughing, Bloodxclat and Che Crava were about to leave when Haller called out, "Just a minute!"
"Yes?"
"You forgot your money bags, didn't you?"
"Oh..yes, thank you very much gentlemen! The police, your friend and helper! Now we must!"
"You're always welcome!" the German police duo called after them.

We roam the sky...

No caiman hits such a green in the sand!
No alien brings such a green to us from Mars!
No surge whips this fragrance to the shore of the Baltic Sea!

No!

In the bottle is the scent of the Swiss stone pine. Captured centuries.
Picked at the tree line. We roam the skies.

Fragrance of needles and branches, bark and wood
and after a few minutes we approach unconsciousness,
as a drop from the roots brings harmony to perfection.

Hours of reflection, with a touch of home
(as our Parfumo Yatagan has described magnificently)
accompany us today and not only under 46°N 08°E.

A captured miracle! And here a thanks to the creator!

Val d'Anniviers
This perfume refers to a place in Switzerland, Val d'Anniviers, it is assumed, that the population is descendant of the Huns. So for me as a HUNgarian the place is exciting and of course its natural fragrances are also interesting.

After experiencing 46°N 08°E, I would express my deep longing for seeing those amusing mounts and smell the mountain air there.

The overture is the real beauty. Since I do not know gentian or lichen closer, my nose translates it automatically to something, what I can recognize. Citrus, spice, mint - that is the first present. When I get up early in a spring morning at the weekend to go for a run in the pale light, the aroma of the dawn is so beautiful, that I feel a tug at my heart-strings because of emotions. I feel touched in an instant when I wear this scent. Jean-Claude Gigodot caugth this moment.

But here comes the slap in the face: This first miracle is taken away within 2-3 minutes, and this crime is not easy to forgive. Campfire, smoke destroys my fresh air, my precious moments spent together on this lovely place in my mind. The dry and dusty wood, the austere aridness occupies the place of the balmy afternoon, that should follow the damp morning. Of course, even campfire is on high-level performed.

The perfume itself, from the beginning till the very end is a complex, natural observation.
The first minutes are enjoyable on both gender, but the smoky end fits better to gentlemen.
Running ahead the wearer by 1-2 meters is not a problem for 46°N 08°E. Endurance also does not give occasion to complaint.

A healthy mountain world
Home - a big word and everyone associates something different with it. It can be the smell of your mother, a special dish from your grandmother, a particular circumstance, a room, a landscape, a place or an apartment. All of this also has a smell.

In this case, we are dealing with a fragrance dedicated to a tree species in the Swiss Alps. Many people also associate it with a sense of home. Especially in the post-war period, the Alps were a popular excursion and vacation destination for Germans. An ideal world that was then also found in households. Who doesn't know them ! The landscapes with mountains and lakes, with deer and farm workers.
The felt hats with feathers and the grandparents' loden coats. Shelves and living room cupboards were filled with wooden figures.
There were also plenty of movies in the idyllic mountain world.
That's all gone today and most of it ended up in the bin or was sold off at flea markets.
What a shame, really! Because who still remembers? Frank Leder from Berlin has done an excellent job of translating this theme into clothing. His collections can be seen in great pictures on his website. He even has "red press sack" soap in apothecary bottles.

Another clue comes from the history of mankind. Not so long ago, we lived in forests, close to nature and at one with our surroundings - timeless Trees were an important part of our lives. We built houses with them, the wood made the living room warm and food was cooked on the stove.
In this sense, the smell of wood has something archetypal about it (if you're interested in the subject, I recommend one of my favorite authors - Wolf Dieter Storl), but that's just by the way.

The topic of the past grabbed me again when I visited an exhibition by the artist Midori Mitamura many years ago.
She had the idea of an installation "Green of the Mountain" on the occasion of finding old black and white pictures. It was essentially about the question of what remains of us when we leave this life. Does something happen in the present when someone looks at our pictures? The installation was accompanied by music which I will attach here at the end.
A certain melancholy crept over me at the time, which may have been due to the peculiar Ave Maria.

But now I've digressed a long way and come to the scent of the Swiss mountains.
It starts very citrusy, although not listed here... light resins and definitely bezoin give a sweet light woody scent. It definitely doesn't smell to me like what I imagine "forest" to be about. Anyone who visits the forest will agree with me - it rarely smells like freshly sawn wood there. Rather, it smells of dry leaves, moss and earth.

The scent reminds me in some ways of ARC, which I find funny as I have only tested this one.
You could say it's a "light" version, as the sillage is very restrained.

All in all, Arve is a beautiful if light fougere.
