Ayala Moriel was born in Montreal but grew up in Israel. Around her native village, there was a variety of aromatic herbs and plants from which natural medicines were made. Moriel fell in love with this botanical variety of scents at an early age. After gaining her experience in art, music, psychology, and philosophy, she founded her fragrance label in Vancouver in 2001. Initially, this was called "Quinta Essentia Signature Perfumes," but was later renamed "Ayala Moriel."
