The fashion brand "IKKS" was founded by French designer Gérard Le Goff in 1987 and is currently based in Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges, France. Originally, the French lifestyle fashion brand was to be called "X", but due to the proximity to plus and below sizes (XL, XS) was abandoned and instead went with the pronunciation of the letter "X".
The first children and teenagers collection (IKKS Junior) was created by Le Goff with the help of his stylist Sonia Provost and his partner Viviane Peigné in 1987.
The first store was opened in 1993, followed by the first cutting-edge and creative women's collection "IKKS Women" only six years later. A partnership with a French fashion group led to the expansion of the range to include shoes, bags, and fragrances from 2000 onwards. "IKKS Men", a chic and laid-back men's collection followed in 2003, and the knitted children's collection "Knitted by IKKS" from then on.
For the twentieth anniversary, "IKKS" launched its online store, followed by other highlights such as the lingerie series (2011) and the expansion of the bag collection (2012). "IKKS" has belonged to the French investor group since 2015.
