Interesting Facts
The origins of the fragrance label "Mäurer & Wirtz" date back to 1845 when Michael Mäurer and his stepson Andreas August Wirtz opened a soap factory in Stolberg (NRW). As the curd and soft soaps sold well, washing powder was also produced in 1884. At the beginning of 1889, a completely new factory was built, whose modern equipment (lye boiler, steam heating, etc.) ensured higher sales from 1901. Due to the constantly growing clientele, "Mäurer & Wirtz" started mass production in 1913, when more production halls were built - this time with a rail connection.

After the Second World War, the plants of "Mäurer & Wirtz" were also used by the pharmaceutical company "Chemie Grünenthal" for the production of pharmaceutical substances. In 1990, "Mäurer & Wirtz" finally became "Mäurer & Wirtz GmbH & Co. KG" with Hermann Wirtz as CEO.

The product portfolio of the family label includes some of the best-known and most popular creations for a wide variety of occasions. For example, "Tosca", "4711", "Sir Irish Moss", "Nonchalance", "Baldessarini", "Windsor", or even "Tabac Original" are all private labels of "Mäurer & Wirtz". The company also creates fragrances for other labels such as "Otto Kern" or "s.Oliver".

Over the decades, the former soap factory has become a globally active label with exquisite fragrances. In addition to the most diverse aromas for the skin, "Mäurer & Wirtz" also sells care series for men and cosmetics. The products are available in good drugstores and perfumeries, in selected online stores, and on the homepage of "Mäurer & Wirtz".
