A leathery chypre for men
For some reason, I had imagined 1869 to smell rather citrusy, fresh and clean. The real fragrance is nothing like I thought it would be. In fact, it's a whole lot better.
I'll start by saying that 1869 is quite herbaceous and peppery. I agree with Guusjes, it is quite sophisticated, but yet it also seems like it could suit a casual and somewhat rough manly man.
It packs a punch, but not in an overwhelming sense. I find it quite unusual and deliciously spicy. After testing 1869, I can certainly see why some women on the Fragrantica forum adore this fragrance on their men. That sharp, earthy geranium note is undeniably sexy and rich.
Acca Kappa makes some really enjoyable fragrances. I love how a majority of them have a really natural, organic feel to them. They all tend to have a delicate and very appealing greeness which never appears to be synthetic.
Although masculine, I do believe some women could get away with wearing this. I am rather impressed by the moderately strong sillage and wonderful longevity. Chypre is a word that doesn't mean much to me, seeming that I still haven't delved much into that particular fragrance genre, however in terms of a chypre working well on men, 1869 takes the cake.
