The chapel above the lake
It is still early in the morning, the sun shines from a cloudless sky. The thunderstorms of yesterday are forgotten and seem to have washed and cleansed everything. The air is still cool, but the heat of the day is already in it. There is a hint of blossoms and citrus in the air.
First, the path passes through the forest. Spicy needles cover the ground and resins drip from the fresh wounds made by yesterday's thunderstorm. Soon it leads steeply up the side of the mountain, the chapel is already visible, but still high above us. It shines bright white over the lake. The closer we get, the more distinct the smell of incense becomes. Yesterday was Easter Sunday and the remnants of the procession still hang in the air.
It gets increasingly drier and warmer and when we reach the chapel after an hour the smell of incense is as clear as the day before. It mixes with the last dew in the bushes - fresh and inviting to devotion at the same time. We pause and gaze out over the lake deep below. It is slowly awakening. The bustle on the boardwalks will soon set in but here is only calm.

The Vinaccioli e Spezie of Acqua del Garda is a fine and quiet incense fragrance. He starts with a very slightly bitter bergamot, which gets a rather fruity note through the orange blossoms. However, these are only supporting actors, the main actor is the incense. Dry, resinous and smoky in equal parts, it's there from the start and lingers until the end. Spices are certainly in there too, but I couldn't say which ones. Dry wood notes are still perceptible and so the scent remains fairly linear as well. Grapes or their seeds are not there.
In the middle part, the incense reminded me of a church, but a bright, friendly one. There is nothing gloomy or dark. Later on, though, there isn't. Here I have the feeling that some patchouli comes to it and makes it a little more "moist". Oud? Maximum as dry wood.
So the fragrance then sounds out. The silage is rather restrained from the beginning. The durability is quite good, 6-7 hours you can enjoy the peace.
The chapel is of course real, the Chiesetta di Santa Barbara is located west of Riva del Garda halfway up the Cima S. A. T., on which a nice little via ferrata, the Via Ferrata dell Amicizia, leads. Easter is a good time to do it, it doesn't go up too high, so is quickly clear of snow, and you don't really want to go through the exposed west face in high summer...
