The Eau de Cologne disguised as Eau de Parfum
The Acqua di Sardegna brand was unknown to me until recently. I only read here and there sometimes a statement or even a comment on one of the fragrances.
Acqua di Sardegna is still a fairly young brand, based in Aghero in Sardinia. Fragrances have only been released for a few years.
On the website the concept of the brand is presented as follows:
A land full of proud, active and lively people whose dynamism has inspired the owner Mauro Aprea to create unique perfumes. Impressions of this island, sea, citrus fruits, wood, summer impressions, Mediterranean flora, all this should be reflected in the fragrances. This is roughly how the introduction reads.
This reads very sympathetic and promising, but also with a quite healthy self-confidence.
After an extensive test of 10 fragrances from the series I have to admit that the reality looks a little different. A conclusion to the whole row: There is still air to the top!
The full-bodied promises are not quite kept.
I don't want to stand up now and just say that all the fragrances are not good for much. But only a few have really convinced me. Besides Desvélos, there was a beautiful woody patchouli scent, and one or two others, this one, Nòis, which is based on the classic colognes with its fresh citric note, but is offered here as an eau de parfum for him and her.
The prelude is promising, with a beautiful neroline note immediately noticeable, accompanied by many citrus fruits. The effect is bright, sunny, cheerful and sparkling. Lets hope for more.
Very quickly slight floral influences become noticeable, but they are difficult to smell individually. Jasmine stands out a little more clearly, whereby this is night-flowering jasmine, which is not related to real jasmine but belongs to the nightshade family, while real jasmine is an olive tree.
The floral notes do not whitewash the citric notes, they underline them very pleasantly. If they were stronger, they would probably have made the fragrance too heavy. But this way, the lightness of cologne-like scents is preserved.
The woody and green notes of the base are barely noticeable and the fragrance is almost over there. The process is very fast and furious and the fragrance fizzles out very quickly somewhere in the middle of nowhere, nothing happens anymore The shelf life is about 3-4 hours and the fragrance is not very strong from the beginning and becomes completely skin-tight within 45 min.
In summer, light scents that don't buzz so violently are not a disadvantage in themselves, but here I lack the endurance that one might expect from an EdP.
The whole thing looks a bit as if you had suddenly pulled the brake in between. If the fragrance had been offered as an eau de cologne, I would have said "ok, you can't expect more from an EdC", but for an eau de parfum the performance is a bit weak. It seems more like an eau de Cologne disguised as an eau de parfum.
A certain similarity with 4711 Eau de Cologne, which I am wearing parallel to this fragrance, cannot be denied. But 4711 appears a bit more pointed and herbaceous.
What I noticed with the other scents from Acqua die Sardegna, there is always a certain synthetic note that is sometimes more and sometimes less noticeable.
I'm the last person to object to synthetics in fragrances, but these notes make some fragrances a little unrounded. I'm not the only one who's noticed that I like to give the good mark of 8.5 to Nòis, however, because here synthetics are not so conspicuous, the fragrance seems to be harmoniously designed and because this pleasant fragrance almost always hits my nerve
Nevertheless, the fragrance is not a candidate for purchase, because on the one hand the durability is not outstanding for an EdP and on the other hand I have enough summery citrus fresheners.
But the test was great fun. But you have to be able to say no sometimes.
The flacons all look very appealing on the pictures, I had none in my hands so far, so there will be no evaluation.
