A Story In Itself.
A haunting composition. Powdery with a sharp spicy resinous shadow looming over it. The oud and star anise follow the bright blue melancholy of the iris. As they follow in behind the iris, they stomp down the tart juniper and the powdery rose, working it into the muddy mulch of grass and filth. This filth is not like filth we’re used to, these lands are opulent and refined with a foreboding air. It feels very Silmarillion. Men frolicking in their lands, while orcs and ring wraiths emanate the earthy scent of vetiver, dank patchouli and oud at their borders. The air is getting fouler and the scent more oppressive, hanging thick the longer their presence persists.
As much as the hordes of orcs have desecrated the fields, treading all flowers into the ground, the iris’ remain. They are hauntingly in the background for the vetiver, frankincense and patchouli. The spice from the clove and star anise play with the vetiver giving it a lush green hue despite its dryness.
This is a must try. An experience. A journey. It’s the perfect scent for autumn or spring, the transformational seasons, as this too undergoes a transformation that is befitting of both seasons.
Full bottle worthy? For some. For me? Possibly… possibly. It’s a joy to wear.
