Vanilla not groundbreaking but delicious
Considering the great price, vanilla lovers can't go far wrong here. You get caramelly vanilla. There isn't much of a scent gradient but it smells really deliciously cakey. The longevity is fabulous. Sprayed on the back of my hand, the scent survived cooking a lunch and then rinsing it off by hand. A lot of niche fragrances don't manage that. As I love sweet scents, I would wear it on its own, but it's perfect for layering.

My favorite Al-Rehab is a discontinued beauty :(
Golden Sand is one of the best Al-Rehab fragrances and it's criminal that they discontinued the spray version. I only tried the spray, I don't like to use oils for hygiene and collecting reasons. And now I'm kind of sad that this is so impossible to find as an EDP. If I ever come across a bottle and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'll definitely buy it.

Anyways, the scent is a wonderful blend of vanilla, caramel, woods, amber and autumnal fruits. Even though nothing like that is listed, this smells like a spiced apple or stone fruit pie to me, but with woodsy undertones that keep it from going too literal and boring.
The drydown is a little more powdery than the opening, but the creamy caramel never fully vanishes.
There are lots of fragrances that Golden Sands gets compared to and I agree that many of them are somewhat reminiscent of it. But none of them is exactly the same. The vanilla used in this is from the same family as the one in Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Kayali's Vanilla and Cologne of the Missions, combined with the fruitiness of Swiss Arabian Casablanca, but without the oudy/leathery note in that one. I know oud is listed as a note for this on some sites, but it's extremely subtle, if it's even there at all.

All in all this smells much more expensive than it is. In my opinion it's the smoothest and most refined scent in Al-Rehab's collection. Bring it back in all forms, please!
