Wonderful combination of Taif tobacco / rose
It has been the best made expense for so small a quantity 12 ml, is an incredible natural rose, mixed with jasmine that sweetens something and is combined with a precious incense and saffron.

All that beginning gives way to a combo of tobacco, leather and wood ashes, although it seems difficult the baco and Taif rose works very well, which makes this perfume very easy to use by men. In the whole life of the fragrance the incense is always present

The quality of the components is great, resulting in a smooth blend and a unique aroma.

It projects with a single drop what neither one imagines, the longevity is of more than 24 hours.

Extinct, but not a Dinosaur
When I obtained my tiny sample of Tribute, it could still be bought. Now, it's sold out everywhere. Relentlessly I searched for it when it emerged among the top 5 (of 96) in my rose sniff fest. It's gone. So I plunked down an unbelievable 50 bucks for a 1 ml decant. Tribute is well worth it. Not only is it a beautifully balanced and spiced dream, I can smell every note if I focus: seductive saffron, exotic incense, florid rose and hypnotic jasmine, wet leather, funky patchouli, a cigar, freshness, a cedar chest. How they managed it, I can't guess but what really confuses me is how such a magnificent perfume is discontinued. I'll just have to console myself with occasional dabs from the decant. Fortunately, unlike some other Amouage attars that vanish into nothingness, just a spot of Tribute works. Then I pretend I'm in a Turkish bazaar, my arms full of roses, someone burning sweet incense near.

TRIBUTE ATTAR by Amouage
The opening of Tribute Attar is focused on spicy saffron and smoky frankincense, giving an Oriental impression at first sniff. Personally, I find this collaboration successful and intoxicating. I love a little saffron in my rice, and a whole lot more in my perfumes. Tribute Attar’s opening combo is a predominantly masculine onslaught, at best, but thoroughly enjoyable and warming. The oil-based concentration of this attar clings to the wearer’s skin endlessly, while developing a deeper, richer, more comfortable texture as time passes. You become hypnotized by the spicy and smoky opening, but you are then unknowingly tricked by the heart of Tribute Attar, which is clad in delicate flowers. Sweet jasmine and spicy rose are but a scrim over more overtly hot and smoky embers. The warming opening does not wane, but becomes just another layer in the evolution of Tribute Attar. Amouage departs from its Arabian roots with a modern Western inspiration; leather. The introduction of leather offers an interesting animalistic element and a complete contrast to the earlier spice and smoky opening. The fragrance takes on a completely masculine accord. It is further complicated by the addition of earthy patchouli. The introduction of fragrant tobacco and aromatic cedar are perfect, but oddly predictable partners. Cedar grounds this fragrance and adds clarity. Finally, a trace of vetiver gives all the mostly heavy notes a slightly lighter green, unpretentious temperament. The saffron has now comfortably settled in, and once merged with the vetiver, allude to a soft powdery accord.

I find Tribute Attar to have a captivating sense of antiquity. This fragrant attar has a timelessness and attractive demeanor. Because the manner in which attars are created, a little goes a long way. Attars should be worn in areas of the body that generate heat. The inner elbow, chest and neck are great places to apply an attar. The bloodflow in these areas will help keep the oils in the attar brewing for hours, and promotes the oil’s ability to emanate. Attars are subtle and more personal scents. Their personality is not loud and boisterous but soft, comforting and alluring. The end result is equally divine and heavenly, as well as precious and potent.

One Of The Best From A Very Strong House...
Tribute Attar is definitely deserving of the praise it has gotten from others. I immediately get a very natural rose, but one that is not as prominent as in some other Amouages like Lyric Man. The rose mixes with jasmine to sweeten things up a bit, while giving way to a relatively strong tobacco, ash and leather combo. At first the thought of tobacco mixed with rose sounds weird... It turns out that it works quite well and makes wearing this rose based scent quite easy for a man (something I found difficult to do with the also excellent Lyric Man).

At $350 for 12 ml, it is a tough sell to say Tribute Attar is a good value.... That said, you really need to use just a tiny drop to achieve the desired effect, as this is VERY potent stuff. It projects like crazy and lasts for what seems like forever. I can't afford a bottle, but I encourage anyone that can to take the plunge... 4.5 stars out of 5.

Tobacco Rose
I was thrilled to be able to sample Amouage Tribute Attar, but when I first applied it, my heart sank.

Tobacco, tobacco, and more tobacco, with just a hint of Taif rose peeking through. I was so disappointed. But then...

A waft of incense, and the Taif rose slowly began to open. Yes, the tobacco was still there, but it receded to the background, no longer a choking and dominating presence.

The saffron note, like sweet honey in a metal bowl, soon arrived, and that Taif rose continued to blossom. (I love this combination best. You would think it would seem too sweet, but it does not.)

When the jasmine came, it was mixed with rose, and its sweetness was modulated by a gorgeous woody vetiver. And still that tobacco background.

The leather did not arrive until very late for me, and it was only a light touch. The journey ended with that light leather and patchouli, traces of vetiver, and memories of rose.

If, like me, you don't care for tobacco, you will probably not love Amouage Tribute Attar. But it was a very interesting experience with a very finely-crafted fragrance.

Great Opulence with Indolic Aftermath
Despite its presence in Europe and all over the world Amouage may count as genuine arabic. Next to the well known spray perfumes you can get Amouge perfume oil – a quite forgotten way of using perfume in western countries, but very popular in Arabia.

Tribute is really a beautiful scent, preferably for evening wear during the colder season. Aside from the fact that oud is missing, Tribute could not be more „arabic“. Here we have opulence, sweetness, and a certain mustiness this time comes from saffron instead of agarwood. Everything is perfectly complected and during long periods of its development, singular notes cannot be sensed seperately.

One can almost approach Tribute only by comparison. I sense a certain similarity with the taste and scent of – maple syrup! Without being sticky sweet, it is the green, tart and also somewhat musty parts in that food product which lead to that connotation. Others may have different impressions.

Amouage perfume oils come in a tiny, cubic flask and are applied in small amounts with a pint-sized glass rod. The general opinion of this way of presentation is that such oils must be highly concentrated since they are only dabbed with caution - one drop should be enough!

Well, a drop is not sufficient by far! A little bit more intense it may be, but the 12 ml Tribute perfume oil does certainly not contain as much scent as – let's say – 100 or even 50 ml of any off-the-shelf Eau de Toilette spray. Just double the already terrible price of 265 €!

Tribute only has the longevity of an Eau de Toilette: after about 4 hours the fragrance is decomposed. On my skin, it actually grew old. Getting near the basenote the indolic aspects of jasmine come clear into view – at any rate too intrusive from my point of view.

These tiny gems have the power to seduce, and the extraordinary high price itself is part of customers' appreciation. I am sure – people would ignore Tribute if you could get it for 40 € round the corner. You do not have to travel to Oman or Dubai to find alternatives. Micallef's Aoud Gourmet covers the same style, is easily available and reasonably priced.

Surely, a fragrance like Tribute can enchant endlessly but only those who never have experienced the like. In a very special way Amouage benefits from its customers lack of information and experience. I really hope for more competition!
