nice one
Meander is the most lovely from the new offerings. I would even consider buying it if it would pop somewhere on sale. As it is now, the current pricing versus quality ratio is not worth it. Scent itself is beautiful. It's mellow, creamy sandalwood with aromatic edge and underlying greenness. It smells most natural from all 4 that got released last year. Staying power on the skin is excellent.

Not quite Amouage!
I got a 2ml sample and I kinda liked it, don’t love it. It does smell smooth and high quality but just not my type of scent. It smells too powdery to me and has a very ordinary profile. It’s not something unique and groundbreaking. It smells more designer than a niche. I’m looking to try Enclave as the notes breakdown is quite up to my alley.

Round 2
I thought after Enclave nothing worse can happen but then I tested Meander, from a factory sample.
So happy that I did not take a full bottle.

This is a woody-peppery, ashtray-like opening fragrance with a slight powderiness. And the carrot note...makes the whole ``composition``very unusual...yes it lasts, yes it projects. That`s all folks.

Not Meander... Boring, More Like...
Meander goes on with a minty, slightly sweet aromatic smoky frankincense with soft pink pepper support before transitioning to its heart. As the composition enters its early heart the starring slightly sweet minty frankincense remains with the supporting pink pepper morphing into black pepper, thickening as it is joined by near-creamy orris, and earthy, woody patchouli-like cypriol rising from the base. During the late dry-down the remnants of the black pepper, cypriol and frankincense join with woody vetiver and slightly sweet sandalwood through the finish. Projection is excellent, as is longevity at well over 12 hours on skin.

I don't know why the composition is called Meander, as its development actually is pretty linear to the this writer. It starts off with an odd minty bent that takes some time getting used to, but the pepper infused, earthy, woody cypriol and frankincense primary heart accord grows on you, if never wowing. The supporting orris is a nice subtle touch that softens the earthy aspect of the cypriol. The truth is there isn't much to write on Meander... The perfume doesn't change much from start to finish, and is pleasant smelling but not anywhere near inspired in its construction or execution, leaving the wearer unimpressed. For me, it is just one of many examples of at least the past half decade of Amouage mundane misses that make one ponder what happened to the great house producing masterpieces like Dia Man? The bottom line is the $340 per 100ml bottle Meander is a "good" smelling but unimpressive 3 stars out of 5 rated perfume that really should never have been created, meriting a neutral shoulder shrug recommendation to all.

Meandering Iris
I’ll start off by saying that Iris feels like one of the most prominent aspects of this fragrance, which carries through to the end. I would say the top 3 accords would be more like powdery iris woods, and by woods I specifically mean just sandalwood, especially its creamy facets. The other notes are present only partially and in supporting angles, such as the back of the nose brightness that I feel is present from the frankincense, but not the lemony front side that is usually involved.

There is a bit of depth to the creamy, but light iris feel from everything else involved, but it’s fairly linear and not as usual of a heavy hitter performance wise that Amouage is typically known for. Definitely a pleasant and inoffensive scent, though not a screamer. I very much enjoy the serenity of the creamy iris, and the well blended supporting notes, but it seems to me to suddenly drop off and cease to exist, as if there are no basenotes when everything else fades away. I suppose I could be anosmic to whatever notes are at the end, but seems curious to me. It is the winter where I am testing and it makes me curious if this is more designed for hot, dry climates to really experience it as it should be.

The bottle and box are gorgeous, by the way, but I’m not sure it is as green feeling as the bottle portrays. As unisex as it gets.

The Khareef

The Khareef is an Arabic term for a weather phenomenon in Oman that is unique in the Middle East. This monsoon rain is caused by surface winds. These lead - thanks to humid air and rainwater - to a considerable cooling and are responsible for the special weather situation in the coastal province of Dhofar.
The moisture that accumulates in the middle of the Dhofar landscape rises and condenses on the slopes of the Qara Mountains. During this time the mountains are covered in thick fog and the khareef falls mostly as a steady and fine drizzle. This weather phenomenon is also responsible for the much more moderate temperatures around the paradise for nature and animals. The temperatures stay between 20 and 25 degrees. The nature-breathing landscape is covered by fog and rain in a cool white veil of mist, which makes everything green and blooming.

With "Meander", Mackenzie Reilly created an authentic image of this phenomenon. The fragrance starts on my skin with very delicate incense. Iris and narcissus quickly join in, reigning over my head and heart and withstanding the base. I love the daffodil idea, it reflects the fine softness, the minimal sweetness of drizzle and supports the wet and humid green of lush, breathing nature.
In general, "Meander" is more the morning fog than the oriental, Amouage-typical buzz. The fragrance doesn't think much of projecting the whole day and meanders rather subtly in a silvery way. I also find little smokiness in the base, no resins, a misty green iris remains the main protagonist.
It is only very spicy if you press your nose on the back of your hand. From a distance it radiates a spiritual, inner peace, which I like very much. I can't analyse anything other than iris and narcissus out of the total work of art, if I didn't know about its other ingredients.

"Meander" is inhabited by a green iris spirit of the unfathomable, which I have fallen for ad hoc. The composition is so harmonious that I actually like to follow the marketing images of Amouage and just fly away. Uplifted by the Khareef, far above the province of Dhofar in Oman - as far as the spirit carries me!

Reminds me of Byredo Bal d'Afrique. When sandalwood becomes more prominent later, it's slightly has the vibe of Byredo Mojave Ghost.

Unfortunately very far from originality and quality of old Amouage. Inspired by Déclaration full of cheap and nauseating musk. Disappointing

The same synthetic musk that can be found in Enclave is present here in ample amount; This time it's complimented by woody spices.
