Excellent Ethiopian Coffee
Arabica is the first opened of my samples just arrived from Annette Neuffer. One sniff attests to the quality so often found in niche perfumes nowadays, and increasingly so rarely in those sold in department stores. This fragrance is rich, vibrant, a true feast for the nose, especially those that enjoy coffee. Though the Arabica bean originated in Ethiopia, it's now cultivated in many tropical climates around the world, representing 60% of world production, per Wikipedia. Supported by an equally exotic and wonderful cast of citrus, florals, woods and spice, as well as Ambrette and Myrrh, this is a delight to smell. The coffee note moderates, but never fully disappears. The others rise to beautifully embrace it. It's like spending time in the best coffee shop ever, jars of fragrant things open on surrounding shelves. A heartfelt brava to this perfumer and thanks to Polyanthes from whom I learned of Annette. Can't wait to test the rest of the line.
