a coloured carpet of dreams
It was a tulip that six-year-old Maria Sybilla Merian tore down in the garden of a Frankfurt merchant in cold March in order to draw it. She did not know how valuable this onion plant was and that it came from the Orient to the big city with a caravan of spices.
And of course the poor little one got in big trouble!
This story is one of the beginnings of the work of a woman who gave us the most beautiful and accurate copper engravings of flowers and plants that exist.
It's a pleasure to look at them and sink into them.
Also Annette Neuffer's "Narcissus Orientalis" conjures up such a flower painting.
No, it actually creates the illusion of a generously patterned warming cashmere shawl or the opulence of a precious oriental carpet; coloured, soft and noble through and through.
Maybe it's the carpet that takes you into the magical world of 1,001 nights - who knows!
Again it is a large number of different scents that have been very impressively woven into "Narcissus Orientalis".
There is already the interesting freshness of the fruity fragrance opening. This one is spicy, warm and pleasantly resinous, caressed by galbanum.
Galbanum, with its great healing effect, is even said to heal wounds; here certainly also those that some souls carry around with them. Thus the inner doors open for a dreamlike and beautiful heart note.
The narcissus in light sweetness, which gives it its name, meets the cordiality of a particularly beautiful orange blossom and the exotic magic of osmanthus.
Once again I would like to remind you that this shrub only blooms for a single night and its flowers are therefore particularly valuable. And not only in tea, but also in many fragrances, as has been shown in the meantime.
The elegantly reserved aroma of cashmere wood (Jasmine-Sambac) fits perfectly with the previous fragrance.
I know the maid in the green, who also bears the beautiful family name "Damascena", from various parks and gardens. There she plays harmonically in the large orchestra of scents: as here too.
"Damascena" - "Damascus" is one of the words that tempt me; it sends me on a journey to unknown destinations that I cannot name.
Here it is again the "Rosa damascena", the rare Bulgarian rose, whose oil is as valuable as rich in fragrance.
From a nice woman, who has been living in Berlin for a long time and organizes the trips to the rose blossom in her Bulgarian homeland and has been doing them successfully for years, I have been getting my rose water for a long time and now and then also this wonderful oil.
So here I meet a beloved acquaintance, whose scent in "Narcissus Orientalis" again forms a balsamic climax intoxicating the senses.
So far slightly fruity and very richly flowery, this extremely feminine fragrance composition is now developing warmly and sensually. She blossoms to full beauty.
The base note captivates with a variety of erotic spices; they could have been collected directly on the island of Aphrodite.
Warm, beguiling vanilla aromas and the sweetness of the tonka bean are skilfully mixed with resins and oils that caress and entice - tempt!
Even I "fish blood" experience at this point a distinctly animalistic, sensual scent explosion!
A true scent orgy: at the moment I prefer a wide Divan with soft cushions to a flying carpet.
"Narcissus Orientalis" is an extraordinary fragrance work of art that gets very under my skin.
Whereby these dreamlike feelings are still increased by the long durability.
This makes it possible to fully enjoy and exploit the individual stages of balanced fragrance development.
"Narcissus Orientalis" is a scent for lovers that awakens lovers and the senses!
Therefore also not suitable for me during the day: I save this sensual, slightly exciting floating for the evening!
Thank you Annette for this beautiful fairy tale from "1.001 Night", which you tell me with your scent.
