A (Mostly) Great Scent for a Great Value
You know when you are looking for a new car and just want a vehicle with the same horsepower and similar leather seats as your old one, but the sticker price is too expensive? Instead, you pick a car with similar performance, but with a different color, less roomy, and affordable.
Creed's Aventus Eau de Parfum is the new car. Armaf’s Club De Nuit Intense Man EdP is the affordable car.
However, I will not review CDNIM as how it compares to Creed Aventus. Instead, I will review it based on its own merits.
----
The opening smell is the major point of critique. The notes are Apple, Pineapple, lemon, bergamot, and black currant. That combination should come with the feeling of relaxing on an island, a beach, or a boat while wearing casual clothes or pajamas.
Instead, the lemon stands out in the worst way possible — it has a synthetic smell that makes me think of Windex or Pledge with a minuscule hint of pineapple. Some people may like it (or even love it), but I dislike it. If the opening was tamer with a herbal note such as lavender, it would become amazing.
However, when one waits for about 15-20 minutes, the lemon aspect dies down, and the scent becomes amazing. The jasmine, rose, and birch heart notes combined with the base notes of musk and patchouli combine to form a spectacular smoky and masculine fragrance that truly shines without being overwhelming.

Also, I must discuss the bottle. Normally, I give a point for having a black bottle, because it blocks light that can affect the fragrance. However the plastic is peeling off, and showing signs of wear and tear, something I don't see with any other bottles I currently own.
Also, the logo tag was unglued, and the chain connecting the logo tag to the bottle actually broke.
Not helping is that the CDNIM bottle may be the tackiest bottle I own. I ridiculed the bottle of 360° Red for Men for looking like a vibrator, and I would display that bottle over this.
----
In terms of performance, CDNIM is exceptionally amazing.
The fragrance can easily last throughout the day, and the smell has lasted on me personally beyond 24 hours. That is amazing longevity, even for an EdP.
The fragrance also projects reasonably well. People will not smell you as soon as you enter a room. However, if you walk by someone on the street, or stay in one spot for a decent amount of time, someone will discover the fragrance.
This combination makes CDNIM an excellent, versatile fragrance that can work in any setting, whether it is at the office (please limit the sprays to two at most), lounging at home, an evening out with friends at a bar or club, or on a date with a significant other or spouse. While the fragrance works best in the late spring or summer, it is strong enough to hold in the winter and can be used as a year-round fragrance.
----
Overall, despite the contentious opening (which can be a deal-breaker for some people) and the notoriously cheap bottle, CDNIM provides outstanding value as the heart and base notes provide an amazing fragrance that is versatile, durable, and usable throughout the year. That is difficult to find with affordable fragrances.
