Uncommented fragrances No. 149

All boys who only have a strong sense of sillage and endless durability can now really and immediately stop reading here, without hesitation or a guilty conscience towards me. I am not resentful and I don't care about a different opinion anyway.
But if you like to choose a fragrance that is very close and quickly fades away because it was not composed to last a whole day (and why should it? After all, you want to add another fragrance and don't want to annoy your surroundings with penetrating odours), but rather to refresh yourself in warm temperatures or before or after heated meetings, you should definitely take a look at this brand.
I noticed on the homepage of The Different Scent, which as a distributor offers a quite exciting and at least partly completely different selection of fragrances, I ordered two samples of the brand. More is not available from Askett & English (a more traditional Anglo-Saxon name could not be found).
Personally, I like the Essential variant even better than the Absolute-Cologne, on which I have written a statement after all. In both cases, it is in a sense a cologne / wash colognes, with the difference that Essential is more closely based on traditional colognes such as Farina gegenüber, 4711 or Acqua di Parma Colonia, while Absolute, following the fragrance designation, is on the borderline between a richer, more condensed eau de cologne and a cologne, i.e. it is composed somewhat more floral and fruity than this one. Essential, on the other hand, traditionally starts volatilely citric (lemon, bergamot), then shows traditional herbaceous traces (rosemary and / or basil), then adds a touch of lavender in the traditional and very British manner and then disappears - completely traditionally - with a microscopic sigh of moss and wood. Neroli is - despite the traditional layout - apparently really not included.
All of this is wonderfully subtle, stylishly refreshing, distinctively close up, anything but vulgar or obscene.
All the things I expect from a good smell. Nothing less, but also nothing more than to be well-tuned.

Essential indeed my dear What's on?
A lemony fragrance that would be great for summertime.
It opens fresh and bright before smoothing down to a beautifully soft skin-scent with a striking resemblance to ageless chypres such as Mitsouko.

May be classified as unisex, but somehow, I imagine it being rather stern on a woman, while it would project a very dignified and gentlemanly aura on a man.
Take your pick.

"Essential" carries its name perfectly because it is up there with the best traditional colognes, and is a strong contender as a staple in a man’s wardrobe.

You can’t go wrong with this one.
It is a classic, and will never fall out of fashion.
Suitable for both casual and professional environments, it is quite lovely.
