Confused...
What can I say about Outspoken? Lots of things; which surprised me as I expected this to be another heavy, cheap smelling Avon perfume. Besides the fact that it’s backed by a celebrity synched my negative predisposition about this perfume.
Boy was I wrong!
Is this another sweet celebrity scent? Yes and No.
The red berries in the top notes and the leathery bottom notes are beautifully held together by the tuberose. I don’t even care for leather tones on me and yet... this is the first perfume I will wear that has those dark leathery tones (and vetiver to boot!) because it is accented by wonderful dark and icy berries that are warmed up by the tuberose, creating a juxtaposition to die for. All the other notes play supporting roles here. Berry, tuberose, and leather run the show, so to speak. On my skin, the berries and tuberose shine, leaving the ebony character of the scent dancing under covers to a rock & roll tune. No femme fatale quality to it as most people hoped it would. Which is great for me since I wouldn't want to walk around smelling like someone I'm not. I think this is what I had hoped Avril Lavigne's Black Star would smell like. Sweet... but with an edgy kick to it.
Projection is good but the sillage is medium. Staying power leaves something to be desired.
