Wolfgang is 56, married and father of a 15-year-old daughter. He lives with his family at the edge of a 5.000 souls village in a 50 years old single family house which he had modernized step by step. During the week he does his safe job in the public service, on weekends he likes to go to cultural events (even in the city a little further away) or goes hiking with his family in the countryside. Wolfgang is not a friend of big changes. He has been driving Opel for 30 years, always buying his shirts from Olympus and has always worn Azzaro pour Homme every day. On his 52nd birthday, his wife wanted to give him the Eau de Toilette as a present, as she does every year. But when she asked for it in the perfumery with the big M where she always bought it, the saleswoman said: "There's something new now. It's not unlike Azzaro pour Homme, but it's more modern." Wolfgang's wife was sceptical, but then had the perfume sprayed onto a test strip. What she smelled was actually modern, sweet and yet masculine. A bit like a freshly baked apple pie with a lot of cinnamon, but still you could see the original Azzaro pour Homme behind it in light nuances. Since she still had some errands to do, Wolfgang's wife suggested to take the test strip with her to observe the development of the fragrance. Again and again she smelled at the paper strip and she liked how the scent developed. More and more he resembled the original. When she had finished her work, she returned to the perfumery and bought a bottle of Azzaro pour Homme intense. Since then Wolfgang uses two fragrances. Azzaro pour Homme Edt as a companion to his grey jacket or his olive green hiking jacket and Azzaro pour Homme Intense accompanied by his black blazer or his 20 year old wool coat.

Azzaro Pour Homme Intense EdP vs. Azzaro Pour Homme (EAU DE TOILETTE INTENSE)

As far as the marketing and advertising of perfumes is concerned, there doesn't seem to be one big enough goat that isn't being shot down by the advertising fuzz here. Furthermore we created extreme confusion with hardly distinguishable flacons (incl. packaging) and their naming. That by the way, where already the reformulations have caused enough confusion.
With this Azzaro Pour Homme Intense I once again ran into this naming trap and was quite perplexed when I sprayed this fragrance on myself. Luckily I had put that on a cloth and not on the body.
Azzaro Pour Homme Intense smells like so many gourmands today who personally let my neck hair stand on end.
Somehow like Kirschwasser, but rather synthetic, the metallic note plus extra sugar! Comes across as the worst variant of Grandma's yearly extremely unsuccessful fruit for the vanilla pudding. Today's kids are on it.
I have, also just by the positive reviews (EAU DE TOILETTE INTENSE) here at parfumo, actually assumed a more intensive edition of the classic Azzaro Pour Homme (1978). But far from it.
What I wanted to buy is called Azzaro Pour Homme EAU DE TOILETTE INTENSE !!!

Concentration and awareness have not only become of utmost importance today because of the permanent sensory overload of consumers, which is wanted by the producers, but explicitly in the search for the right perfume (because of the widespread confusion of names with all its flanks).

In this sense, keep your eyes and noses open so that the first spraying does not become a shock.

I'm cute but still I'll throw cinnamon sticks at you, I'll dip a few of them in liqueur beforehand so it sticks nicely. Haha, found another apple, and bam, there you have it. I'm not ripping out the vetiver now, that's wafting in the background in the nose too, but look what I've got in my hands: Yes, a portion of tonka beans, you wouldn't have thought so, would you? By the way, I just walked through an amber-colored resin, can you smell that?

Well, it does not matter, the main thing you smell me, the cinnamon stick, everything else is not important.
I wonder if I have anything in common with my father? Of course, the name and the bottle. And do not get the idea to confuse me with my long-dead brother Pour homme Eau de Toilette intense, which was namely great, not that I'm not also great, but just contemporary, I could never hold a candle to him, however.

A Marvelous Fine Cognac!

There are a lot of flankers that followed Azzaro pout Homme original, and this one seems more intriguing because of the addition of the booziness. To begin with, I adore this one. It captured my attention and was love at first sniff. You have to try it with an open mind and not expect the original smell or anything alike since this is not an ordinary flanker, not this time. It is so freaking good, strong, aromatic, and kissing your face with newly added features.

It opens with slight Cinnamon surrounded by Vetiver, which is quite unconventional to see that earthy root in the top notes. So damn bitter, earthy, and dirty, nothing citrusy nor zesty in there. Immediately you sense the Tonka-beans in the undertones. But what thrills me is the hint of liquor that you can make out, very prominent even in the opening, a finest and smoky old brandy or cognac, which is both complex and nuanced, with a bouquet of the best Rémy Martin--it is hard to say that since I am a big fan of Islay Single Malts Scotch whisky! More, on my skin, the boozy liquor takes a cherry-like nuance, which is not bad at all. What about the star anise sign? Don't worry, it is there and detectable despite the riot of other spices.

It is surprisingly good! Fantastic, very beautiful, unique. It is warm and sensual, aromatic, fougère, woody, powdery, and smoky. In my opinion, Tonka-beans and Amber make it so smooth, a bit sweet, and a bit dry, but in a pleasant manner. Amber comes super strong in the dry-down, and so does the vetiver. I think it has nothing to do with the previous releases; I found only a slight similarity with Azzaro Pour Homme, more with the original and less with the flankers. Of course, it has something that reminds you it is an Azzaro's son; there is a common D.N.A., but not a revisited edition of past creations.

Ultimately, It gives me a perfect vibe. I am proud to offer it 9/10!!!
It is suitable for leisure and working days, and it gives its best on cool and wet weather, like wintertime, fall, and rainy spring days. You can smell and enjoy the earthy, smoky, boozy, and dark notes.

I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since December 2015.

Christmas dream

Everything done right! It smells of cinnamon mixed with a parquet paste. Cinnamon dominates and the parquet paste does not let the sweetness explode completely.
