The shadowy darker side of the ocean
Today I'm going to review AZZARO Chrome United, which is inspired by friendship and, in my opinion, highly underrated, not very much popular like Chrome, the original. It features, in my opinion, very little of the unique chrome DNA, yet it creates a fresh, crisp, bittersweet, and laundry vibe that is simply irresistible.
Alleged to be ozonic, green, woody, aromatic, aquatic, and musky, it takes seconds to reveal. The open is magical, crispy, and clean. The creaminess of the bergamot and the spicy freshness aspect of the Sichuan pepper immediately reach the nostrils. This opening is stimulating and pleasant.
Then comes the aroma of the smooth and smoky Ceylon black tea and violet leaf vibe, so natural, green, inviting, and uplifting, which holds hay, tobacco, and leather notes. It is these notes that give it its woody and smoky freshness. There is a bit of an unusual spicy citrus smell brought in by the coriander (aka cilantro). The chemical interaction with my skin, in the heart, reminds me of Chrome and its metallic smell of bloody iron and cold steel. Still ozonic, yet a more minor mineral than its original sibling Chrome. This stage is where United and Chrome are nearly alike.
A few hours later, a transparent musky dry down settles in; it is almost soft, creamy, and slightly powdery thanks to the cedarwood and its characteristic notes of freshly-sharpened pencil, and with a mannish touch of warm, clean, synthetic musk, so sensual. Thanks to its woody and musky ingredients, the fragrance is more vibrant and summery.
The more I smell it, the better I like it. It suits the office, not offensive. It is both casual and professional, clean, fresh, with a crispy edge that comes from ozone. I found it tied to breezy summer and spring for a day and evening out.
Compared to the original Chrome daddy released in 1996 before IFRA, it is pretty much a skin scent; longevity is about 4 to 6 hours and needs to be refreshed if you want to smell good all day long. Chrome United is by far the best chrome flanker, and I like it slightly better than the original and highly scent friendly with zero harshnesses. I wish this had a better projection of staying power. I find myself having to spray this often throughout the day to enjoy the light, crisp freshness this scent has to offer. However, the cologne is excellent and worth it all.
