Warm and Sweet
The listed notes are:
Top Notes: Sugared Agave, Golden Papaya, Chilled Pineberry, Bergamot Zest, Tart Pomegranate
Mid Notes: Strawberry Blossoms, Sheer Jasmine, Watery Freesia, Violet Petals
Dry Notes: Dulce de Leche, Exotic Musk, Coconut Sands, Caramel Woods
Now, I do not know how a lot of these notes are supposed to smell, so it is difficult for me to discern all of the notes in this fragrance as much as I would like to do. However, I think I definitely detect strawberry blossoms, caramel, and perhaps a tiny bit of coconut and bergamot. I cannot discern dulce de leche, and I am unsure what sugared agave, golden papaya, pineberry, and pomegranate are supposed to smell like.
However, I quite like this fragrance. It is warm, really sweet, and fairly gourmand and cuddly---very much like some of the other B&BWs fragrances I favour. If you tend to shy away from very sweet fragrances, then you may not like this one. I think this one would work better in cold weather than in hot weather. I am not sure why it was marketed as a Summer fragrance.
I must say longevity is quite good. I applied the body mist nearly eight hours ago, and it is still VERY noticeable on me. I do spray liberally, though. Still, I am very impressed with the longevity given that I did not layer it with any matching products.
Projection and sillage are average to average+. Overall, for the price, this is a nice fragrance, especially for people who lean toward sweet gourmands, and I may purchase it again, although I do think I will wear it more often in Autumn and in Winter and maybe on very crisp Spring days/nights. I think it could easily become cloying in Summer heat and humidity if one spends much time out of doors.
Does it remind me of any other B&BW scents? Yes, it reminds me a little bit of both Amber Blush and A Thousand Wishes sans the champagne note in each one of those. Sunset is not at all boozy. It is not particularly floral to my nose, either. If I had to place it within a specific category, I would have to say that it is a sweet gourmand with a strong citrus edge although citrus is not amongst the listed notes.
It is still different enough to stand on its own as a separate fragrance, though, and the sweet, gooey caramel and coconut notes in the deep dry down really seems to differentiate it from the other two in my opinion. I do not get as sweet or as gooey a feeling from Amber Blush's and A Thousand Wishes's dry downs. Amber Blush is very boozy, and A Thousand Wishes is very red berry fruity with a more subdued champagne note.
These scores are within the B&BW family of scents. They are not meant to be compared to the same type of score given to a Guerlain or a Chanel for example.
