Wildly determined
Yesterday I was wildly determined to finally get a Berdoues - only difficult, because I like the whole assortment.

Determination is not my supreme discipline anyway, and so I visited the Berdoues corner umpteen times - and left it again and again hesitantly.

I like the light, carefree attitude of this label as a whole - all very turned towards, uncomplicated without being directly simple.
Fragrances don't always have to be interpretation-heavy for me.
Life raises enough questions already.

And so Mara aroused my pleasure yesterday.
Soft, spicy and round, it confronts me.

Camomile offers a calm start - as mild as a cup of tea.
Aromatically currant-like Buchu is added - but as spicy as the currant leaves on the shrub.
No jam impression.
The Labdanum looks deep and sweetish round - but does not stick in any way.

The fragrance is pleasant, almost cuddly - but remains light and floating.
Like a soft but warm cashmere blanket.

But the decisive husband tends to the bloody Yoshima - which I like too.

So I carry the flowers to the checkout - but I still have the soft Mara in mind

The savannah is creamy!
Ah, I'm always happy to try a new Berdoues scent. I like the brand because it has some beautiful, though sometimes seemingly simple, fragrances to offer. And some people really like this simplicity.

And of course, I got to know the brand again by... by looking for tea scents and meeting Assam of India among others. There were two reasons why you couldn't resist the tea scent: First of course because of the nice, but also a bit bitter tea scent, and secondly because of the bottle. Yes yes, you should never buy a fragrance because of a bottle, but take a look at it! A bottle on which you can see all these small, cute and above all colourful elephants on the inside wall! Who doesn't have to start smiling right away? :)

Anyway, now I come to Maasai Mara, a fragrance named after the nature reserve in Kenya and whose name is composed of the East African people of the Maasai (or Maasai) and the term for spotted or spotted in their language (in this case "mara") (this is supposed to refer to the landscape in the savannah, because seen from above the single standing trees in the landscape look like spots!)
Whereby we with the Massai would be again with a people, who also wear totally great colorful robes... hmm,... :)

The smell:
The fragrance starts with a rum/whiskey note, which then quickly becomes sweetishly woody, so that I'd say it's an interplay of Buchu and Labdanum. But the impression with the alcoholic note disappears quickly and is replaced by a note that is not mentioned here at all, namely tobacco or tobacco leaf, which is in my opinion very clearly smelling. The sweetness also seems to come mostly from a note that is not mentioned here: honey.
Chamomile is also present, which makes the fragrance creamier. Yes, you could say that the chamomile smells almost the same as in chamomile creams. However, it is a bit weak, but as I said, it is still smellable.
Over time, the fragrance becomes softer, creamier and is therefore simply very pleasant. You can also smell a mixture of tobacco, honey and woods later on, which remains unchanged for a few hours and only weakens with time. As said before, a simple but good smelling scent.

The Sillage and the durability:
The Sillage is above average. One leaves a good scent at the beginning, but this seems to be a bit smaller because of the gentle scent.
The shelf life has turned out pretty good. I could smell the scent on me for more than ten hours.

The bottle! The bottle is rectangular and has rounded corners. A special feature is the inner wall of these flacons, as they are painted or show a motif that can be seen through the front. Here you can see colourful, roundish patterns, which therefore fit to the colourful appearance of the Massai people, even if the people should use/prefer more red colours. A nice bottle, which also fits well in the hand!

Hm, the smell has become fantastic. It has a great, slightly spicy woody and above all creamy scent with additional notes of tobacco and honey. The tobacco is clearly scented here, but it is neither too tart nor smoky, but rather soft and creamy and therefore has a similar effect as for example in the Jo Malone fragrance "Tobacco & Mandarin".

I would actually classify him as an all-rounder. Maybe not entirely suitable for summer, but not a pure winter scent either, as it is a little lighter for that despite its spicy notes. That means, it would probably fit best into spring and autumn. In my opinion, it can be used for everyday use as well as for going out, and for me, it also looks quite unisex.

As I said, Maasai Mara is a nice fragrance to try. Of course not only because the background of the flacon is so beautiful with its colorful patterns, although I still think the elephant flacon of Assam of India is the best of the Berdoues flacons :D
